terrible experience I had a terrible experience with Advantage Kia of Palatine. Sales and finance personnel tell you things that are complete lies. On Saturday 8/20/2016 I had a terrible experience with Advantage Kia of Palatine. Sales and finance personnel tell you things that are complete lies. On Saturday 8/20/2016 at about 3 PM, I went to Advantage Kia in Palatine due to an online advertisement on Cars.com. When I got there I met with salesman Bob Hoff. I asked him to see an AWD (all-wheel drive) vehicle in the Kia Sorento EX or SX model. He said that he had an AWD EX model in white and red. I told him I don’t like white, and I would like to see the red one. He came back and said the manager was using the red EX model and it was not available. He said he had two used 2014 SXL models in AWD, one in black and one in platinum graphite. I looked at and test drove the black one, which I eventually decided to buy. During the test drive Bob was talking about the features of the vehicle and again stated it was AWD. Bob and his managers employed all the typical deceptive methods during the negotiation process. Back and forth with the manager, playing with the price. They tried to add $1200 for the Kia certification and $995 for rustproofing, over coating, undercoating. When I made an offer they asked for my credit card for some reason. I told them absolutely not. After several hours of going back and forth to try to wear me down, we agreed on $25,500 OTD (out the door, that’s tax and all fees included). When they brought me the paperwork, it said $25,589. I told Bob that is not what we agreed on. He went to see the manager and he came back and said there was nothing he could do. I told Bob I would not pay over $25,500. He finally came back with the agreed upon price on the paper. I waited several more hours until called into see Juan in the finance department. He said my payment at 4.74% interest would be about $460 per month for 72 months. He said an extended warranty for an extra 72,000 miles from the sale date and maintenance warranty that covers oil and fluid changes would be only $2 per month. So I asked him specifically, “It would only cost $2 per month x 72 months = $144 for the whole thing?”. He said my yes, and that my payment would be $462 instead of $460 without the warranty. It seemed like a good deal for only $2 per month. Plus, the salesman Bob gave me a rebate code for the finance department and with the rebate my payment ended up being $459 per month. I left the dealership at about 9 PM, 6 hours after arrival. It turns out this is fabrication on multiple counts. A couple days later, when I looked at all the paperwork, I realized that what they had portrayed was a lie. First, the car that I was assured was AWD twice, in fact was only FWD (front-wheel drive). I was not at all interested in FWD. Plus, I negotiated the pricing based on the fact it was AWD. I paid for a feature that is not even on the car. According to Kelly Blue Book, the car with all the features plus AWD is worth $29,999, without it is worth $28,526. That is a difference of $1,473 in value. Nowhere in all the paperwork I signed did it designate whether it was AWD or FWD for me to notice the error. Secondly, the extended warranty was not $2 per month. The total cost to me for the warranty was $3,457. After everything was said and done, I thought I was paying $25,500 + $140 for the warranty = $25,640 total. The total I later found out was actually $28,707. I called the salesman, Bob, to discuss the matter. After I spoke with him about the issues he said that he didn’t remember exactly, but “he may have told me the wrong thing about the AWD”. He asked what I wanted to do. I told him that there is another car that is the same on the lot in a different color with AWD and a few less miles I would be interested in. He got back to me and said that the manager would “allow me to trade in the car I just bought and purchase the other car in AWD”. He actually wanted to make more money off the situation by giving me a depreciated value for the car I had for a week and then selling me another car. I went into the dealership the next day and asked to speak to Juan in finance. While I was sitting there, Bob saw me and asked if I wanted to test drive the other car. I told him in no way would I do business with his dealership again. I told him I was very upset and he cost me $1500 in a feature he told me was on the car. He apologized and said he couldn’t recall. It was very clear that once they made the sale both Bob and Jason, the manager, wanted nothing to do with any problems that arose. This problem was 100% caused by Bob their salesman. I was called in to see Juan, and I confronted him about the deception with the false cost for the warranties. He gave me some nonsensical answer in response. I told him to cancel the warranties, and I obtained a copy of the form. He said the clerk would fax it in in the morning. Not trusting him, I called the clerk, Christina, two days later who seems like the only helpful person I spoke to in the whole dealership. Juan never gave her the cancellation form to submit and she had to go get it from him. She sent me the cancellation confirmation as requested. This dealership engaged in deceptive and fraudulent practices on every level from the salesman to management to the finance department. Avoid this dealership at all costs. More

Games,,,,,,,Games,,,,,,Games Went in to purchase a vehicle advertised on their website as well as many other websites. Initial contact was pleasant but that didn't last long. Once Went in to purchase a vehicle advertised on their website as well as many other websites. Initial contact was pleasant but that didn't last long. Once we started to discuss numbers the games started. Where we presented with an offer to purchase the vehicle at the advertised price, no. To our surprise we were told the vehicle would be almost $3,000 more than advertised price because they had already done paint and interior protection as well as pre certified the vehicle as a factory certified vehicle. When we told them we had no interest in these items the response was the work was already done and could not be removed so we must pay these charges. After almost an hour they finally backed down on the pre certified charges and said since the paint and interior protection was already done we must pay $475 for this, no option as a consumer to decide if we wanted this or not. Why wasn't this vehicle advertised for the price including these items if they were already done and there was no option but to pay for them. In my opinion this is bait and switch, get you in the door with an attractive price then drop the hammer with their version of reality, a price $3,000 higher. Just when you think the worst is behind you since you have finally come to terms on purchase price the roller coaster rounds the top and spirals downward again. Financing games begin, being told you will be paying x% interest but when you do the calculations you would actually be paying an interest rate almost 1.5 times what was quoted. When you call them on it they argue with you telling you your numbers are wrong but refuse to show you anything to prove their numbers. Once again after almost an hour of this they finally present you with a quote for financing with a payment within pennies of what you said it should be an hour ago. You are thinking great we can sign some papers and be out of here soon, wrong again. You get seated in a waiting room in queue to sign papers, 60 minutes later you finally get the privilege to be escorted in to sign papers. Almost done? Nope now we have to listen to the presentation by the finance manager on all the extended warranty options even after we told him we had no interest in these products. Then basically told we were stupid for not considering any of these options, what if they were only $2.00 per month. Big surprise coming here.......... nothing even close to $2.00 per month, more like $25 - $50 per month. Over 4 hours later we are now leaving only to get in the vehicle we just purchased to find the gas tank nearly empty. There is absolutely no reason it should take over four hours to purchase a vehicle. In my opinion this dealership needs to rethink their old school way of doing business and realize this is 2016. Can't wait until the day I can purchase a car on Amazon and it will be delivered to my house free of charge. Think that won't happen, so did all the struggling big box stores a few years ago. More
