Dishonest, sleazy and a complete waste of time. Avoid! I suggested my mother to have her MDX maintained at McGrath Acura due to their proximity to her house in downtown Chicago. She has been interested in buying an RDX for a while and inquired about it after the salespeople approached her with 0.9% interest rate leasing and financing options while her MDX was being maintained. Guillermo Perez sat us down for over an hour and wouldn't show any figures on what the costs for leasing, financing, or what the value of her current MDX is. When asked if he could provide any figures or a comparison on the monthly costs for a lease or financing, he became highly agitated and said that we don't understand the car buying process and that he couldn't provide any financing figures to us. When pushed, we were told because my mom has a "great" credit score of over 800, she would be given financing at 5%, which is a bait and switch from the initial rate of 0.9%. We were then given an inflated bill for $11,000 in maintenance charges which would "go away" if she bought a new RDX from him. Safe to say we halted all work done on her car and she is buying her new Acura elsewhere. This dishonestly, incompetence, and arrogance from McGrath Acura is bad to begin with, but completely unacceptable from a luxury car dealership. My family has had excellent experiences at Muller's Woodfield Acura in Hoffman Estates and we highly recommend them, as a substitute. More

Although I did not have an appointment, I took my car in because it didn’t start. They got me in with no problem. Service was good and I was kept updated as they looked at my car. Service staff was patien because it didn’t start. They got me in with no problem. Service was good and I was kept updated as they looked at my car. On 4/24/20 I visited this dealership despite being concerned about Unethical Practices at this business! Run, don’t walk away from this dealership! On 4/24/20 I visited this dealership despite being concerned about the Pandemic. I have bought several Acura’s over the years from McGrath at other locations. The car buying dance was in full play here - no stream lined processing. The ‘wear you down’ game was in full force over 3.5 hours. Three shady things happened: 1) when working on my trade-in they told me the CarFax reflected an accident. It was NEVER in an accident. 2) The sales manager promoted low interest finance programs, then came back with a higher rate and 3) After waiting for Rueben the Finance guy for 45 minutes he fraudulently stated I HAD to purchase a theft protection plan for $1198. When I told him I was not interested, and did not need the coverage he LIED and said ‘ it comes with the car’ and ‘Mr McGrath wants you protected’. I specifically stated I wanted to opt out if such a program, he stated I could not. I signed the papers. Returning home an looking closer I identified that Rueben falsely checked an ‘opt in’ box on the form. I researched standard fees when buying a car on the IL Attorney General site and Theft Protection or After Market (as the $1198 was also called) was not included. I reported to Sales Manager who at first said he was unfamiliar with such a charge and then stated it was a misunderstanding. I was told to return the next day to redo paperwork. The $1198 was taken off but that doesn’t undo the fraudulent act. I complained to Sales Manager that the whole deal now feels shady (CarFax, interest rate switch, Theft Protection LIES) and he would Not let me out of the deal. Worst of all (well, not worse than fraudulent documents) my call/ email into the GM, Mr Halloran, and Owner Kevin McGrath were unanswered. As a consumer I will pursue avenues available to me to ensure this dealership is accountable for the unethical practices. I guess even Pandemic is not a time when th car dealership stop shady practices. More

I'm glad I was referred to Tracey Holmes, she followed up with me on a Sunday and educated me on what options were available. When my fiancee and I met her she helped us make the best deal happen. Terrible follow through - Impossible to get response Purchased a pre-owned vehicle from this dealer. Came from Missouri to buy this car. I might say that this dealership had "horrible customer service", but the more accurate evaluation of them would be "NO customer service". Many many attempts to contact them ignored. When we finally DID get what we needed from them, it was late enough for us to incur penalties here in our home state - It was a decent price on a used car - but SO not worth the hassle of having to deal with them. I would avoid this place if you are looking for a dealership that will do what they SAY they will do. More
