I had an awful experience at McGee Toyota. I was actually a former customer of theirs but will never do business with them again and would not recommend them to anyone. They sent out a marketing flyer with a a former customer of theirs but will never do business with them again and would not recommend them to anyone. They sent out a marketing flyer with an offer for a trade-in on my current truck (which I purchased from them, so they know exactly what it is). Since the price seemed too good to be true, I called and verified what they were saying (the trade in offer was above book value), negotiated the price on a new truck, and confirmed multiple times with them that all the numbers were correct. It's about an hour and a half drive, so I specifically negotiated the price over the phone and confirmed as clearly as I could. I understand that they needed to see my trade-in to verify the value, but agreed that as long as the truck was in the condition I said it was, then they would give me the deal. When I show up to buy the truck, the sales rep I spoke with (Josh), whom I spoke with probably five or six times during the day and confirmed all of these details with, hands me off to another rep and disappears. Then the deal we negotiated is no longer valid, they won't give me the price we agreed, and Josh is conveniently nowhere to be found (they agreed my trade in was in great condition but still wouldn't give me the agreed-upon price for it). They can't possibly understand why he would offer me such a great deal (and the great deal is the only reason I drove 90 minutes to get there). They won't honor what was discussed on the phone, won't stand by their word, and won't do anything to try to make it right. From reading other reviews afterward, this seems to be a very common tactic they use - say anything over the phone and promise you the world to get you to the showroom, then the whole story changes when you get there. It's a classic bait and switch tactic, it's completely unprofessional and unacceptable, and places like this are what give car buying a bad name. I would not recommend anyone do business with this dealership; there are many other fine Toyota Dealerships in the area that will treat you with respect and honesty. The only reason to even consider this place would be price, but my experience shows that whatever price you think you're getting when you speak with them is completely subject to change when you get there. Take your money elsewhere. More
A disastrous and horrendous car buying experience at McGee Toyota. McGee Toyota sent a quote by email which included $500 rebate to all military members. McGee Toyota said the military rebate was a mi McGee Toyota. McGee Toyota sent a quote by email which included $500 rebate to all military members. McGee Toyota said the military rebate was a mistake in the quote and they could not honor it. It is shady to lure a military customer that way. I test drove a 2013 Toyota Highlander even without the military rebate the price was reasonable, so I signed a contract to purchase on May 27 and placed a $7000 down payment. I decided to register out of state tags and was told it would take 10 days to receive the tags and registrations. 10 days had passed but decided to give a few more days to call for an update. When I called they said they didn't receive tags or registrations yet but they did need more documentation from me to move forward with the registration. Why they didn't ask for all pertinent information in day one? who knows. July 1st I received a bill for the first month’s payment for a car that I have yet to drive and was still in McGee Toyota's parking lot. I called McGee Toyota and asked them if the payment could be differed until the car was delivered. It made no sense to be paying for a vehicle that I have yet to own. Matt the finance manager told me not to worry, that the tags and registration would arrive before the car payment was due. Two days before the car payment was due I called McGee Toyota again to ask if they were able to differ the car payment. They said they had not done so but they would look into it. The day after the car payment was due I called again I said "I owe on a car that I have yet to own, and i really need the payments to be differed.” They said that they did not differ the payments but they would look into it. It then dawned on me that I was not a concern to them and decided then that I would walk away from this deal. Tom and Brad told me that I can't walk away from this deal, and if I did, I would be charged for all document, registration fees which amounted to $541. Brad the general manager was actually very hostile over the phone when I told him that I have decided to let go of this deal. Brad said he will refund my $7000 down payment minus all the fees I owed. I felt like I was being held hostage to this deal. Here is an excerpt from the contract I signed. "RECEIPT OF GOODS AND PROMISE TO PAY: YOU AGREE THAT YOU HAVE RECEIVED THE VEHICLE AND SERVICES DESCRIBED ABOVE, AND HAVE ACCEPTED DELIVERY OF THE VEHICLE IN GOOD CONDITION. YOU PROMISE TO PAY THE CREDITOR THE TOTAL SALE PRICE AS SHOWN ABOVE." The registration fee was included in the total sale price. Tags and registrations for the vehicle were never issued, and yet they still charged me for it. This was indeed a very disastrous car buying experience at McGee Toyota. More
Joe was very friendly and helpful. He was honest and has gone above and beyond to make my car purchase an enjoyable experience. I would definitely recommend a friend or family member to him. gone above and beyond to make my car purchase an enjoyable experience. I would definitely recommend a friend or family member to him. I went to McGee Pre-Owned Superstore - the one in Hanover on Washington St. - (even though I read some bad reviews) to look at several 2010 Toyota Prius's that they had available. I saw the cars on Autotrade on Washington St. - (even though I read some bad reviews) to look at several 2010 Toyota Prius's that they had available. I saw the cars on Autotrader and again on their own website. The prices looked good, they were around 40,000 miles each and were certified. I had called previously and I was told to ask for Josh Hetzel (internet sales manager) when I arrived. I asked for Josh, but some other sales rep helped me, I forget his name but he was pleasant enough, he let me take all three cars for test drives. I liked two of them, they had the same price, so I was willing to buy either one of them. A second sales rep (forget his name too) then asked if I wanted to buy one of the cars, I said yes, it really just depends on what you will give me for my trade. I was trading in a 2008 Acura MDX with 98,000 miles on it. It was in mint condition, brand new timing belt, but I have a long commute and the gas was killing me. If you go to McGee's website, they have a service through BlackBook that will tell you what your trade might be worth. I did that (as well as looking on KBB, etc.) and BlackBook said it would be worth from $14-17.5k. I went to another dealer the day before and they offered me $15.5k. This is where my experience with McGee went ridiculously bad, and I know this was coming straight from the manager, the sales rep was just the go-between so I only partially blame him. First, the sales rep told me the price of the car was nearly $2,000 more than they had on their own website and Autotrader, and then showed me what my monthly payment would be. I had already arranged financing through my credit union and had told him that. I said, (1) your price is way off according to your own website, and (2) I don't need to know a monthly payment, just tell me what you will sell me the car for and what you will offer me for my Acura, that is all I need to know to make a decision. He seemed surprised that the price was wrong, he goes back to the manager (not sure why because he had a computer right in front of him that he could have seen the price himself) and then comes back and tells me the correct price and what my new monthly payment would be. Again I said that I just needed to know what they were offering me for my trade. Finally he said $12.5k. I laughed, said thank you, offered to shake his hand and got up to leave. As I was sitting in my car getting ready to leave, the first sales rep came out and started calling out trade-in offers..."how about $13k?, $14k?, $15k?, $16k? would you take $16k? let me ask the manager if he will offer you $16k." The manager came out and offered me $16k for my Acura MDX. Fair price, but at this point I was so irritated by their tactics (this all happened in about 5-10 minutes) and I did not trust them in the least. I left and ended up purchasing a Prius at the other dealer that offered me $15.5k for my trade (a very pleasant purchasing experience which I also reviewed - Acton Toyota Used Car Annex). My main problem with McGee is how stupid they thought I was as a customer. Did they really think I wouldn't already know the price they were selling the Prius's for from their own website? The sales rep tried to say it must have just been discounted the night before...not true because I had been researching for days and the price had not changed...even if it had, how could the sales manager not know the current price? Also, did they really think I wouldn't know what a fair price for my trade would be? Are they not aware of the Internet and how easy it is to find this type of information? And to pull the old "here's your monthly payment" routine in an effort to not tell me what they are offering for my trade is just embarrassing. Toyota should reconsider being associated with this dealership. These guys need to change their business practices...treat the customer as if they are not clueless (even if they are!), be transparent about your pricing and trade-in values, and maybe you will find you sell just as many cars and have repeat customers for years to come. My advice...stay away! More

McGee was straight up with their cars.com pricing and were lower by a few hundred than any other dealer within 50 miles including those who provided pricing via TrueCar/USAA's buying service. (my price were lower by a few hundred than any other dealer within 50 miles including those who provided pricing via TrueCar/USAA's buying service. (my price was rated an "outstanding deal" by truecar.com) I completed 90% of the transaction over the phone and internet with Billy Baker and had NO issues when I went to pick the car up. It was a simple transaction without any hard upsells, they were honest and friendly. I would easily send friends down there, it's a bit out of the way unless you are on the south shore, but worth it if you want a no hassle great price. More

I was a little hesitant to part with my 2003 Jeep Wrangler that I have owned for 8 years. When I entered the dealership Joe was very kind from the beginning. He was not like other salesmen I have encountered in the past. Joe made it very easy to look, drive, and ultimately choose my next vehicle. There was no pressure to buy at that very moment which I appreciate because so many other dealerships do. In parting with my Wrangler, McGee gave me an excellent trade in value and I really feel I made the right decision. I have purchased my last 3 vehicles from McGee and will continue to do so in the future. They have been outstanding to do business with. More
