I examined the used parts and in my opinion they did not need to be replaced. Fast forward 11 1/2 months. My car quit. One of the belts that they replaced shredded and got sucked into the timing belt and made the timing belt slip. I asked them if it was covered under their warranty. They said it was if it was a belt failure. They had it for two days and then said that something must have hit the pulley and belt through the plastic shield that covered it and caused the belt to shred and that I needed to file an insurance claim. They said that the engine was locked up and valves were bent and the pistons hit the valves. I filed the insurance claim and the adjuster took their word for what must have happened and approved the claim for $13000. for new engine which was worth more than the car so they totaled it. I went to get my personal belongings out of the car and examined it. They had not pulled the cylinder head off to look at the valves and pistons. The engine was not locked up because the starter would turn it over. I could see marks on the plastic shield where the shredding belt had whipped against it, but I did not see any marks where the shield was forced into the spinning pulley not did I see any damage to the pulley. When I was driving it at the time it quit I did not hear anything hit the underneath. In my opinion something hitting the pulley and belt was the only thing that they could come up with to avoid having to honor their parts and repair warranty. This would indicate a severe lack of integrity at the least and could constitute fraud at the worst. Go ahead and buy a new car from them if you think it is a good deal, buy if you don't know anything about mechanical matters avoid them and try to find a repair shop with integrity. More
