The tech sent me a video of everything, the service advisor provided pricing and checked to make sure i was okay in the lounge area multiple times. Misrepresented vehicle In the spring of 2018 I bought a new car from McDonald. In the winter of 2020, I decided to sell it and shared the VIN with prospective buyers. Imag In the spring of 2018 I bought a new car from McDonald. In the winter of 2020, I decided to sell it and shared the VIN with prospective buyers. Imagine my surprise when a potential buyer pointed out, through a quick search on Carfax, that the vehicle had been damaged while on the lot, in the possession of the dealer, before I purchased it. No mention of this or the extent of the damage was made by McDonald. Certainly the vehicle wasn't discounted because of it. I called McDonald immediately (potential buyer standing next to me). In seconds, a salesman was able to bring up the documentation that confirmed the accident. It was readily and electronically available. He said that he would get back to me in "5 minutes" w/ the details to share with me and the buyer, who'd elected to wait. After a couple hours of no contact, I got on McDonald's website and was able to text my concerns with whomever responds to such text inquiries. The next day I got a call from the "VW Director," who's principal points seemed to be: 1) He wasn't working for VW then; 2) The car was on the lot for 10 months and sharing this information w/ me had "slipped through the cracks"; 3) The auto sales industry inherently has a lot of turnover; 4) He didn't know how to find out exactly what had happened but would find out. That evening I received a voice message from him asking for my email address (which I'd established twice that they already had). I called back and left him a voice message w/ that information. The next day I received an email with pictures and an itemized list of the damages that had totaled $3800 in 2018. Indeed, the car was repaired (windshield, dash, hood principally). I wrote back with my concerns, which I felt were reasonable and respectfully shared. The VW Director's reply: "You hit the nail on the head. With all of the easy access to information it doesn’t do us, or anyone in any industry frankly, any good to try and hide something from customers. Given that eight months went by and people with knowledge about this damage came and went I might understand how this slipped through the cracks. That said, it still doesn’t excuse the mistake. I appreciate your comments. Please understand that we (all of the McDonald stores) are using this as a learning experience and a process has been put in place to make sure this doesn’t happen again." More
I have had not so great experiences here before but this time everything was great. Glenn my shuttle driver was a delight. Brad the representative was communicative, nice and had a great personality.
