I called this dealership to say that I would be coming in for a test drive. Then I came in, and the salesperson (MD) (I spoke to the same person on the phone before I came in) refused to give me a test drive for a test drive. Then I came in, and the salesperson (MD) (I spoke to the same person on the phone before I came in) refused to give me a test drive because "there is no one else at the dealership so I can't leave. All of the other salespeople quit." Then the guy told me, "When you come in to buy, you can do a test drive." Seriously? Steps: 1. research 2. Test Drive 3. Decide to buy. I am not buying a car I have never driven. I called ahead of time to say that I would be coming in for a test drive. They could have told me that they were unwilling to do that before I came in (although it's a load of bull, the salesperson could have given me a test drive; I have no idea why he was so rude). In addition, MD (the salesperson) spent most of the time complaining about how everyone wanted to test drive, but no one wants to buy, that's why everyone quit, etc. He refused to give me rough quote on the car without my credit score (though I told him what level of credit to assume for the quote), and by the end of the conversation was literally screaming at me that I can't do anything until I seriously want to buy the car and that everyone that comes in just wastes salespeople's time, and that "no one wants to work for free." To top it all off, besides the pedantic speeches on the state of the economy and the dealership, the salesperson knew nothing about the car, barely knew what was his own lot, and was uninterested and/or unwilling to answer any of my questions. Summary: Never go to this dealership, it is a waste of space. Drive out of your way to talk to some one else first. More
Mazda of Lodi managed to alienate a potential customer, lose a sale, and paint an unsavory association with the Mazda brand name, all in less than half an hour. I was in the market for a new vehicle and lose a sale, and paint an unsavory association with the Mazda brand name, all in less than half an hour. I was in the market for a new vehicle and having read excellent reviews of the Mazda 3, I performed a lot of research and decided on a trim option that fits my budget. To check out the car in person and hopefully take a test drive, I visited the Mazda of Lodi dealership in Lodi, New Jersey. For about 5 or 10 minutes I examined the cars on the floor, seeking out a vehicle in the trim level in which I was interested. I couldn’t find it on the floor and mentioned this to a sales associate who approached me (Sales/Leasing Mgr, Jerry Stern). Rather than help me locate it himself, he told me to go out into the back lot, and said I might be able to find it there. I spent another 10 minutes searching for the car, and finally located it. When I did, I came back to ask some more questions of the same associate about that vehicle. After answering those questions I told him I was interested in purchasing that model and that I was searching around for a good price. He told me to come back with prices from other dealerships and then he would work with me. Frankly I was a little stunned. I explained that I at the very least needed a place to start from in order to make an informed purchase. I also pointed out the paradox that he sold cars but wouldn’t give me a price. I then asked if he could provide me a ballpark figure of the trade-in value of my current vehicle. He also denied that request even walking away from me and speaking over his shoulder. That’s not how I do business, he told me. I was never even offered the opportunity to take a test drive. Their collective attitude seems to be summed up as indifference and arrogance that simply perpetuates the stereotype of the “sleazy car salesman”. I would steer everyone away from this dealership. I went in to see a new Mazda. Not impressed by service or friendliness, and they wouldn't give me a quote (not even sticker price!) until i went in. I finally went in and it was a waste of time. The salesper friendliness, and they wouldn't give me a quote (not even sticker price!) until i went in. I finally went in and it was a waste of time. The salesperson gives me a sticker price and I try to negotiate but he won't negotiate until I show him that I'm gonna buy from them. Next day, I call in with a quote from another nearby Mazda, and the salesperson instantly gives me a $1000 discount to try to get me to buy from them, but the price wasn't competitive enough to two other dealers, so I just said sorry and hung up. Not many people here are helpful and they take FOREVER to get some stuff done. I may suggest Wayne Mazda for quotes as well as Ramsey Mazda. Try to find a dealer you like that can match or beat their prices. More
I called to get a quote on some repair work--man in service said "we don't give quotes over the phone-especially to women!" And then hung up!!!!! My car was stalled so droped with this dealer overnight. Next day they informed after diagnosis the car needs Idle Valve, gasket and ignition service. Since my car was close to 60k miles and ignition servic Next day they informed after diagnosis the car needs Idle Valve, gasket and ignition service. Since my car was close to 60k miles and ignition service was part of that service I negotiated a rate and agreed over phone. At evening while i was there to pick up my car got surprised he did 45k miles service and change Idle valve etc. Asked why he did not complete 60k as agreed response "his technician felt this car don't need transmission service etc". How stupid they think of me? Asked for refund discount since they did not do all the service as agreed the answer was pay the full money and take out the car. Already complained to Mazda and BBB. Please don't take your car to this dealer. I will never never go to him again. More

Purchased a 2005 fully loaded RX-8 from these guys. Did my own research beforehand so was aware of all the quirks/issues with the car. Sales experience was satisfactory so that is for another post. This po my own research beforehand so was aware of all the quirks/issues with the car. Sales experience was satisfactory so that is for another post. This post is to note the subpar maintenance service that I got... After a few months (about 4K miles), the right steptronic paddle shifter became faulty, so I called to schedule for a routine oil/filter change and to have them fix the shifter. I work during the week so had to schedule for a Saturday, and was told the technician that can look at the shifter doesn't work on Sat, but I can still have my oil changed. So I said fine. Took it in, waited an hour, then drove it back home assuming everything was fine. A week later, when I opened the hood to replace the washer fluid, I found my engine cover was missing! Called them to ask them if they had forgotten to put my cover back on, they then became exceedingly defensive, saying some BS like "My techs are A-Spec alright? If your engine cover's missing is probably because you misplaced it" Finally persuaded them that it could be because they forgot to put it back on after the oil change, and scheduled a weekday appt to have it replaced and to have them look at the shifter. At the end of the day the service advisor claims that my shifter was perfectly fine! I was running late for another appt so I said I'll check it out and come back. I didn't bother. They also claim they give you a "Full Circle" inspection when you take your car in there, I doubt they did that... If you want dealer maintenance service on your mazda, go somewhere else! More
Wanted to test drive a new car. Went in with a friend. By surprise it turns out my friend use to go to school with one of the salesmen. So he wanted to be the one to sell me a car. I told him I was in for a surprise it turns out my friend use to go to school with one of the salesmen. So he wanted to be the one to sell me a car. I told him I was in for a test drive at the moment only. He was real busy. I compromised and said I would go have lunch and be back in an hour. I came back but he was helping someone else with a test drive. It was raining a bit. So another salesmen approached me. I explained the circumstances. He said he would help me. As much as you don't want to hand over any personal information I did because I had already invested way too much time trying to just get a test drive. Long story short: I gave my information and was asked if I was going to purchase a car "today". I'm an honest person so I said 'Not today. I have to see how it drives first." He left me to go "ASK". (as they all do as a tactic) I know better so I stood up after about a minute and sure enough he came running back. He them proceeded to lie to me, straight to me face! "We can not give you a test drive today because of the rain. But we can give you an appointment to come back." "How stupid do I look?" was what I wanted to say, but didn't. I mean really. I had just walked in the building for a second time AND SAW SOMEONE GETTING INTO A TEST DRIVE! and You'd think they'd realize my seriousness in actually buying a car because I CAME BACK... just for the test drive. So that shows you that this dealer 1)plays games, 2)underestimates customers' intelligence, 3)lies! DON'T BUY FROM THIS DEALER! You'll be sorry! I thanked the salesman for his time and didn't make an appointment to come back. He proceeded to talk a lot but say absolutely nothing. So why should you take my advice and not go to this dealer? BECAUSE I USE TO BE A CAR SALESWOMAN! I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. Bottom line is I was lied to. They have no integrity. They didn't give me a test drive because I was there to TAKE A TEST DRIVE. They wanted me to do something I wasn't ready to do, BUY. This dealer lies straight to your face. You deserve better. There are plenty of fair dealerships out there. THIS ISN'T ONE OF THEM! More
