Less-than-impressive interaction with service dept I own a Hyundai which was involved in a recall. I scheduled the repair appt nearly a week in advance. Dropped the car off the night before. The next m I own a Hyundai which was involved in a recall. I scheduled the repair appt nearly a week in advance. Dropped the car off the night before. The next morning, Troy Woudstra (service advisor) called me and told me they didn't have the parts. Said they would have "10 more" the next day. So, I had to go fetch my car, and bring it back the next day. The actual repair was fast, in fact, the hassle relocating the vehicle twice took easily 4 times as long! Not sure who dropped the ball in the service department. Scheduling appts for parts you don't have, and then not telling the customer until mid morning the day of. Rather disappointing. More

Watch out for these people I should begin this review by explaining that I am the owner of a small class 8 trucking company and that I maintain my own trucks and trailers. I do I should begin this review by explaining that I am the owner of a small class 8 trucking company and that I maintain my own trucks and trailers. I do just about everything to maintain these trucks except major motor rebuilding as the tools involved to do that type of repairs is unjustified for a small business like mine. It is not that I do not know how to do this, it is just that the tools cost way too much. I took my '06 Ford Escape in for the A/C not working and to change the coil packs on the motor on Tuesday July 3 they explained that they would get right on it and would inform me of what they found (check engine light was staying on). The service manager called me at 4:45pm to inform me that the a/c was fixed, it just needed recharged and that the PCM (power control module or engine control module) was bad and a new one was going to cost me $2,300 dollars. I told them that I would check into a used computer and to go ahead and change out the spark plugs and the coil packs. I turned to the Internet and found CircutBoardMedics.com who has rebuilt circuit boards that are tested and programed to match your vehicle by your Vin number. I could have had my PCM sent in and repaired for $299. But this is my only transportation so I opted to have them overnight air freight a PCM from their stock and I would return my old one after it was replaced. The overnight air freight cost me $37 and the replacement PCM is $517 dollars with a $150 rebate when they receive your old one in return. Therefore I invested a extra $110 dollars to have the part here on Thursday July 6th to be installed on my vehicle. The FedEx website shows that my part was delivered at 9:57am July 6th, ( they did their part as they were paid to do) I called the dealership at about 11:45 am and was assured that they would have a technician on my vehicle right after lunch. After calling SEVERAL times that afternoon and getting their voicemail. I finally reached the service shop cashier and inquired about my vehicle. She told me that the computer showed it was done but, that she would check for sure as she had no paperwork on it as of yet. She came back to the phone and apologeticly transfer me to Skylark King the service manager that I had been dealing with. Skylar informed me at 4:50 pm that they were unable to get me vehicle done and it would be Friday morning before it was ready. I immediately pointed out that this dealership was scamming me and this was unacceptable behavior on their part. At 5:10pm he called me again to tell me that my vehicle was done. I had their courtesy vehicle pick me up and take me to the delarship so I could get my buggy back and was presented with a bill that was just a few dollars shy of one thousand dollars. When I read the itemized part of the bill they charged me for the following, $65.00 to charge the A/C, $9.95 for dye in the A/C ( my system already had plenty of dye in it but why argue over $10.00. They charged me $47.50 to install my class lll trailer hitch according to the paperwork the tech had to remove and reinstall the rear bumper to accomplish this. I thought that was a very good deal. (I will give credit where it is due). Now on to the spark plugs and coil packs, 2 gaskets, 6 spark plugs and the coil packs that I brought to them that I had purchased on e-bay installed was a total of $391.25. I think that price is a bit steep, I could have had this done at their quick lube center which is on the same property for about $30.00 less per hour in labour, but they could not preform A/C repairs. Page ll of the bill shows $1.99 for a multi point inspection, a service preformed by their own quick lube on Monday July the 1st of 2017. (Once again I will not argue this point as two inspections by two different mechanics is worth the $2.00 in my opinion). Now my point of contention, this dealership tried to charge me $294.00 to R&R the power control module. Please refer to this link explaining on you tube how this is done. https://youtu.be/bFnuREAao0A this is a in detail video of how to replace the power control module recorded by the same company that I purchased the rebuilt computer from. As the video shows they had the power control module disassembled and in hand in 3:10 that is 190 SECONDS!!! The installation is just as easy all that needs to be done is to match the PCM to the coded vehicle keys. There are easy to follow instructions that anyone with no mechanical experience could easily follow. Total time for installation less than 5 minutes according to the tech department at CircutBoardMedics.com. $294.00 to install the PCM?? I DON'T HARDLY THINK SO!!! THIS IS A RIPOFF THAT WAS DIRECTED RIGHT AT MY BILLFOLD!! When I pointed it out to them the other service writer ( I did not get his name ) asked what I thought was a fair price. I told him I think $50.00 is fair, ( I don't expect something for nothing). He refused my offer and said he would drop the R&R price of the PCM to $100.00 because they had to program it. As I stated before this PCM was purchased from CircutBoardMedics.com ALREADY PROGRAMMED!!! It just took a simple matching to the coded keys that anyone could have done. How else can you explain that Skylark called me at 4:45 to tell me it would not be done and miracle of miracles at 5:10pm he calls back to say it is done. In other words they are going to try and cheat you out of your hard earned money if you let them. Personally my vehicle will NEVER roll through the doors of their shop again. I DESPISE SCAMMERS And that is exactly what they tried to do! I am cross posting this to the Better Business Bureau and directly to the dealers website if I can figure out how to do it. This fiasco has cost me an appointment at the Firestone dealer to install 4 new tires today and after stopping there on my way home, I was told the next available appointment would be Saturday am. I had planned to leave town on Friday to attend to some business out of town, BUT, If I do not get the tires installed before Sunday I lose the sale price and the rebate on those tires! If you have read this far you are probably thinking to yourself "I would be really posed off too"! Believe me I am! I would not let this shop replace the wheel on my 5 yr old grandsons little red wagon!! They will NEVER see my business again! More
