We recently filed for bankruptcy and my husband and I thought that we wouldn't be able to finance another vehicle. Robert Walker from the start was very welcoming and very helpful. We are very thankful to him and Matthews Motors for helping us find the right car for the right price. My recent car purchase at Matthews Motors has been an emotionally challenging experience for me. I traded my beloved “tank” after having it for a little over 16 years with over 296,000 miles. Dealing with Robert Walker was a blessing. He was very supportive in assuring me that I was making the right decision in consideration of the service history and current condition of my car. Mr. Walker worked diligently to provide the best service in getting a true upgrade in a similar vehicle within the same family of Toyota and which also has features which are easy to navigate. I was hesitant to settle on the vehicle he selected for consideration of purchase and when I mentioned that maybe I might want to look at other options, he strongly advised a more stable mindset regarding the financing end. I understand that but car dealers, on the other hand, need to understand that a customer who has not purchased a vehicle in such a long timeframe will surely have buyer’s caution. I’ve been pleasantly surprised but I’m still adjusting to this transition – my tank will always hold a special place in my heart as it kept me safe through the years by the grace of God. All I can say is thank you to a dealership that can recognize God’s way of treating people. More
I can not and will not recommend this dealership to anyone. I am a teacher in Wake Co. and heard great things about Matthews Motors so I went and purchased a 2006 Jaguar with 50,000 miles. I also purchased a warranty for the car which was explained to cover anything that goes wrong with the car(mechanical), it was the top warranty, additional 3500. One week later, car is in the shop with mechanical issues with the air conditioning. It was there for a month. The warranty did not want to pay. Finally, the car was returned, after $200 dollars out of pocket costs with a warranty. Next, ~one week, something went wrong and coolant was spraying everywhere, back to the shop for another month and more money. Got the car back and few weeks went by and check engine light comes on so here we go back to the shop and more mechanical issues with the car. Another 6 weeks in the shop! I was done! I took the car to Matthews Motors as a trade-in on a car that WILL operate, only to be told that I have not paid for it enough and it has too much negative equity. Well, duh! But what do I want with a car that stays in the shop more than on the road? I was mislead in the mechanical condition of the car in the first place and then shrugged off. I have bought many cars as I am 47. I have never had as nice and pleasant an experience as I did buying from Matthews Motors. Robert Walker has found his calling. Robert Walker made a nervouse customer feel welcomed and at home. Victoria also was above reproach. Her friendly customer service skills just added to the entire experience. We never felt pressured. We were given the facts and allowed to make our own decision. I had three other pre approvals and three other " credit specialty dealerships". We had been to so many dealerships in a weeks time. WE WERE VERY PLEASE WITH THE HELP WE RECEIVED... WE WENT THERE LOOKING AT A SPECIFIC CAR... AND FOR A MOMENT THERE WAS AN ISSUE BUT THEY WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND TO HELP US AND GET THE CAR.... MY HUSBAND WAS V THERE LOOKING AT A SPECIFIC CAR... AND FOR A MOMENT THERE WAS AN ISSUE BUT THEY WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND TO HELP US AND GET THE CAR.... Because of a past car salesman, I find it hard to trust a salesman. But I came here to Matthews motor and dealt with Shannon Fisher. I told him what I was looking for, what I had for a down payment, and a salesman. But I came here to Matthews motor and dealt with Shannon Fisher. I told him what I was looking for, what I had for a down payment, and a range in monthly payments. And to be honest, I thought with my credit, I was expecting him to say I needed more money down to get a good monthly. He pulled up my credit, left the office, came back and said let's go look at some cars. Lol, I was shocked. We looked at a few and I ended up getting a Commandor. After the test drive, there were a few issues but he promised the get them fixed (y'all keep in mind that this was a used truck so you should expect some issues). And I even got that promise in writing (which THEY suggested). So in the end, I bought the truck and was happy. NOW...let me tell y'all something that really surprised me and really pushing me to get my next truck with Matthews Motors. A lot of places you go, once you sign al papers and drive off the lot, then that's it, AS IS. Well I found another issue with the truck and told Shannon about it. He said that they'll take care of it and that's exactly what they did. No hassle about it or nothing. Man, I had such a wonderful experience with Matthews Motors. Oh yeah, plus Shannon called me after and said he got me a better rate and lower payments. And Victoria Godwin, she is so nice. She answered all the questions that I had. Listen, if you reading the review, I know you don't know me but if a business does me dirty then I'll tell about it. But Matthews Motors did me right and everybody was so friendly. If you looking for a new or used ride, please stop by Matthews Motors in Clayton, NC righ on 70 HWY. I really believe they'll do their best and most to work with you. I went to Matthews on may 13 along with my husband that was there the day before and got approved for a vehicle but dut to the time of day he was told to return the next day so we could work on getting the was there the day before and got approved for a vehicle but dut to the time of day he was told to return the next day so we could work on getting the payment lower. when we arrived we were not happy with the lack of customer service that we experienced. They treated us like we were nobody's. They talked real down to us and even when they had everything they asked for they made comments like y'all could've made those tax returns up. They also talked about personal info out loud with doors open so other customers could here. I wanted to leave immediately but my husband refused to back down because he knew it was something we were already told yes about. At the end of the day we gave$2500 and traded in our mercury mountaineer and we left with a 2007 white Chevy Tahoe only to find out a day or to later after a call from Matthews motors that my vehicle needed inspecting. We took it to be inspected and it wouldn't pass. At which time I took it back to Mr Dave the GM and told him I don't want the Tahoe I want my truck bck. He tells me my truck was sold on auction but assured me that whatever was wrong would be fixed. Well after bout 5 trips to CCOG and it still couldn't pass inspection I no longer felt safe with the vehicle and asked if we could cancel the contract only to be told no. Well after two trips to DMV and a call to the finance company and Steve Matthews over a month later I got my vehicle and my money back. More
I purchased a vehicle in March of this year ( 2013 ) from Matthews Motors in Clayton, NC . My husband & I were pleased with the service & professionalism of the sales people. Murph helped us through all the intricacies of the process and we left satisfied. BUT my review doesn't end there !!! I went back to Matthew Motors to purchase another vehicle in the last 10 days (June 2013) , because I was rear ended in my car that I had just purchased in March from Matthew Motors & that vehicle was a total loss per the insurance company !! To say the least I was very stressed out by the accident ( NOT my fault ) and needed to get into another vehicle as soon as possible. Murph & Jay just ran with it and made me feel confident I would get through the red tape of a total loss vehicle & that they could get me into another vehicle ( it turned out to be a better car with a better interest rate & a lower monthly payment !! ) Murph spent a a large part of one afternoon helping me to sort through the details involved with a total loss car and then very efficiently helped me close the deal on my " newest " car several days later. I felt confident they had my best interest in mind. I also felt they were patient with my many !! questions and answered them to my satisfaction. I want to thank Matthews Motors and then more specifically a big thank you to Murph & Jay for making me a happy customer . I would recommend Matthew Motors in Clayton NC to anyone who needed to purchase a vehicle. More
