The Second Time Around This was our 2nd experience purchasing a car from Mathew Motors. The 1st experience was under somewhat embarassing circumstances back in 2012. My wife and I had just filed for bankruptcy and turned the car we had back ot the bank. A friend told us about Mathew Motors and suggested we check them out. I thought that no one was going to sell us car with our circumstances. Also at the same time we received a letter in the mail from Victoria Godwin indicating that Mathew Motors understood our circumstances and wanted to help rebuild our credit. Between the recommendation from a friend and Victoria's letter we made an appointment and made our 1st visit. Gloria was gracious and took time to listen to our story. She helped us narrow down our search on a car and we chose and purchased a 2005 Toyota Sienna. Gloria was very confident during the process and helped restored our confidence. A little over a year later, our financial circumstances improved. The need for a second car came into play and I contemplated what I would look for in a car. With the past weighing on my mind the thought of going back to Matherw Motors pop up. The first experience was so positive for us that I thought I would go and visit a see what cars they had on the lot. Ona rainy Sunday the wife and I cruised through the lot and I spotted a red 2009 Toyota Matrix. A very nice looking car. By the time I got back with Mathew Motors the car was SOLD. I received an email from Mike Frischman inviting us to come and check them out as they were having a drive to sale a certain number of cars iin a short period of time and wanted the opportunity to meet us and help us in any way he could. I contacted Mike and informed him of what I was looking for and dissapointed that the little red car was no longer on the lot. Mike perfectly knew what we were looking for and our past circumstances. Of all the cars on the lot he presented us with a 2014 Nissan Versa. Mike was very knowledgable, astute and very warm and friendly. I was not expecting to take a car home that evening, but we did, the 2014 Nissan Versa. Great little car and will truely meet our needs. So for the 2nd time around another great experience. Thank you Mike and Gloria for making both experiences with Mathew Motors and very pleasurable experience. I highly recommend giving Mathew Motors the opportunity to assist with your automotive needs. He guided me through the process of purchase with patience and willingness to answer any question I had. About three years ago we moved into the Clayton area. In the past I have found it easier to find a reliable doctor than some one to service my vehicles. If I though I needed some and they did not they told me. In other words I could depend on what they told me. After the first visit I have taken both of my vehicles to Mathews for service and repairs. My wife and I were looking for a specific car after her Jeep was totaled. After searching many dealers up and down the east coast, we found the car we wanted at Matthews Motors. I spoke with Mike Frischman, and after initially being denied the offer I made, I checked back a couple weeks later, and they then agreed to my price +$500. For the car we got, I feel we negotiated a good price. What really impressed me, was that once we had the price negotiated, they never again tried to get more money from us. The car did have a vibration problem that Mike Roberts (service manager) took in while we waited, and rebalanced the tires. That took care of the vibration, and we were off and running. There were a couple times when the salesman tried to explain away the vibration as poor roads, but quickly backed off when my wife said, "That's more than bad road." (Way to go hon...) Because I was from out-of-state, I thought there would be problems with financing, but even that was handled quickly, professionally, and to MY satisfaction. Over the years I have purchased many cars (one of my least favorite chores), and I must say this had to have been one of the least painful experiences I've ever had buying a car. I take my hat off to Steve Matthews and his crew for making it that way. Even Victoria, the finance manager, was pleasant and efficient while correcting the mistakes that we made when filling in the paperwork. More
