Marty's GMC responded

Walter we are sorry that the A/C recharge did not work this year and that your Canyon now requires a new compressor. This can happen on an 11 year old vehicle. We understand that it is disappointing, especially when it had worked in 2015 and 2017 when we performed the recharges at your request. Of course, at those times the compressor was operational. Regarding your brakes there is a scraping in the front left and the pads are at 20%. Our job and responsibility is to make you aware of the concern. We also present options, from basic pad replacement to an overhaul of the brake system if it were to become necessary. I don't think anyone would argue that if one chose to drive their brakes down to zero they would most likely need a much more extensive and expensive brake system repair. I apologize that this was not communicated more clearly and you took it as a scare tactic. We will work on our communication.
