We found Ed to be a really nice guy. That of course is not why we purchased the automobile. Awesome, awesome, awesome!!! We were shopping around for a car for our daughter after owning a Volkswagen (which was not a pleasant experience). We were almost sold on a Toyota Corolla until we decided to stop in at Martin Honda in Newark and met with Shari Godwin. Shari quickly pointed out some of the differences between owning a Honda versus the Toyota. She never spoke bad about Toyota or any other vehicles we were considering. She just gave us the facts, which had not been discussed at other dealerships. Immediately, I was impressed with Shari for sharing the information and asked her some additional questions which she kindly and efficiently responded to. Shari suggested we take the car for a test drive, which we did. I loved the car immediately! It had so many standard features that the other cars did not and Shari did a great job pointing them out. Our overall experience with Shari Godwin and Martin Honda exceeded our expectations. Shari was great!!! She had a great sense of humor, and more importantly I did not feel like we were playing games. After my 2005 Honda was lost to flooding, I went to Martin Honda to look for a car. During my first visit, I wasn't sure whether I was buying used or new, but Shari took the time to let me test drive 4 Martin Honda to look for a car. After I decided to buy new, I went back to work with Shari and we looked more seriously at what Honda had to offer. Shari was patient with me during my very thorough search and answered all my questions. She was friendly and professional the whole time. I had a fantastic experience with her and everyone else at Martin Honda and I love my new car! More
About a month before purchasing, I went in to look at a Civic EX. Dave was very helpful at that time with any questions I had. For the next month he was very persistent and worked hard to earn my business. I came back in and Dave did everything he could to help me leave in a new car. I had visited another Honda dealership, whose service was terrible, but they had a lower price for the car. Dave lowered the price of the car to better meet that price. He and the finance manager worked with Honda Finance to get a better rate than I thought I would've gotten, since I am young and had no cosigner. The man who helped with the warranty even worked with me to get a low price on an extended powertrain warranty, because I drive so much. I think everyone in this dealership really knows how to give good service and is very understanding of every customers personal and individual needs. When I need to buy another car I will come here, and I will also recommend them to everyone, I've already referred a few people who have asked me about my new car! Thanks so much Martin Honda! More
Ed McDowell and Shari Godwin were a pure joy to work with. Both were very professional and just very down-to-earth (personable). It didn't seem at all disingenuous like they were putting on the "good sales person show". I like that. If anyone's in the market for a new car, I'm definitely going to recommend Martin Honda and I'm going to insist that they work with either Ed McDowell and Shari Godwin. For 4 months, I had been searching for a vehicle to replace my eight year old SUV. I limited my search to the Nissan Altima, Kia Optima, and Honda Accord. While the Optima is a great looking vehicle, I didn't want something that everybody seems to have right now. As for the Altima, the market is as saturated with this vehicle as well and I can honestly say that both come with more bells & whistles (standard) than the Accord Sport, which I have chosen. "Bells & Whistles" is not a decision criteria for me because I can add them myself later. I chose the 2013 Accord Sport mainly for the quality of the vehicle and the look of the 2013 Accord Sport. I knew (as a guy) I was being a diva. The bottom line is that this is my first new car (previous 3 vehicles were used) and I wanted what I wanted. After spending 8 years in a gas guzzling SUV, I really wanted a car that would get better than 35 mpg highway. Ed McDowell and I test drove the Accord Sport. He explained the "Econ" button to me along with the vehicle's smart driving technology, which is illustrated by 2 thin semi-circle indicators surrounding the speedometer. In all fairness, I have to admit that I've never driven an Optima, but I have driven the Altima. In my humble opinion, the Accord offered a much better ride. And the re-sale value (if or when it ever comes to that) of a Honda Accord has been consistently higher than all vehicles in its class over recent years. On the day that I took ownership of my new 2013 Accord Sport, I worked with Shari Godwin. Ed was off celebrating his daughter's birthday; I respected that. #familyfirst After everything was done, I just sat in the car for about 25 minutes - just smiling and playing with the technology. My husband and I checked out the Honda dealership because a co worker recommended the dealership. Originally a Honda was not on our radar but after meeting Shari and her enthusiastic approach to our needs a a co worker recommended the dealership. Also they had different colors available for me to see right then and there. Shari was excellent and respectful in guiding my blind husband's hands over the controls and features of the car that he could and would use. Our guide dog was equally impressed when we took the car for a test drive and snoozed in the back seat. The transition and trade in with our old car was simple and easy. Shari could not have been any more joyful and accommodating! More
