Lousy salesmanship cost a sale I was 100% going to purchase a car from Marina del Rey Toyota. Their knowledge of the cars was poor -- I had to continually google information to find I was 100% going to purchase a car from Marina del Rey Toyota. Their knowledge of the cars was poor -- I had to continually google information to find out about things like trim levels -- but they were offering me a good deal with a low APR. Then, maybe not so great an APR. OK, it happens. I have a co-signer who is out of town for a week, but is more than happy to help out. I'm not happy having to wait either, but I'd rather do this right than rush. The next morning, I get a phone call from their internet sales manager, John Madden. He has a great deal for me! I can buy the car now at the less-than-stellar APR, and maybe they can lower it on Monday! OK... so I can wait until Monday and find out. No! I can buy the car right now! So... you want me to lock myself into financing on a new car with the promise of maybe you'll look into it later and see if it possibly can be lowered? "Hey, I'm just asking a simple question." And that was his one response, over and over again. He's just asking a simple question. That simple question has cost you any trust I had, and a sale. More
