Poor ROI with unused extended warranty. DrJ says stay away. We spent $2800 for an extended warranty with coverage to commence after the factory 3 year warranty expired. We were told we could purchase this warranty anytime, but we decided to add this fee to the purchase price dor the benefit of financing, and who purchases a new F-250 expecting to sell it three years later?. We were informed that the unused policy could be refunded if unused, or we could receive a prorated refund depending on the date of refund. During our latest service 4/20/16 for routine maintenance and squeaky brakes, we were informed the front and rear rotors and pads were pitted and rusted, all requiring replacement. There has been a history of premature underbody rusting on our F-250 Lariat, and after 38 months of ownership and a worsening rust issue, we felt compelled to sell the truck. We informed Maplecrest Ford financing, where we purchased the extended warranty, that the F-250 was sold to another dealer less than two months after the extended policy became active (it was a 48 month extended warranty). Ford is promising to send a refund for an anemic $1,232 after being active and without use for under two months. We called Maplecrest Ford to express our concerns about their determination of the residual value of the extended warranty, and We were informed the extended warranty was from a third party who determined the refund, and they were impotent in their ability to help us. If you're feeling pressured to purchase an extended warranty, you don't have to. You can acquire one 35 mos after purchase, and apparently they are not form Ford, so buyer beware. I keep returning because of the quality of the vehicle and more importantly because Ray takes me seriously, listens and explains financing options, compares models that I am interested in, goes over all details carefully and helps me in making the best decision. I am confident that he gets me the best deal possible on the car and makes purchasing or leasing a new car a pleasant experience. I should also mention that the Service Department is friendly, doesn't keep me waiting, has a pleasant environment, and the mechanical work meets all expectations. More
