I liked the way you sent me the video when you examined the car. However, belt tensioner price is very very expensive. Wished you recorded a video and sent it to me for showing how bad was the belt tensio the car. However, belt tensioner price is very very expensive. I recently purchased a 2017 Mazda 3 from a small local dealership in Sacramento. Before I made the purchase, I took the car to Maita Mazda for a pre-purchase inspection. I wanted to ensure the car was in dealership in Sacramento. Before I made the purchase, I took the car to Maita Mazda for a pre-purchase inspection. I wanted to ensure the car was in good mechanical condition, and I thought the best way to do that was to take it to the experts, a Mazda dealership. When I made the appointment over the phone, the service advisor quoted me $190.00. The vehicle was dropped off at 11 am, and I received a call from the dealers' service dept at about 1 pm stating the car was ready and had no issues or problems and that the total cost was $390.00. I explained that I was quoted $190.00, but was quickly told that couldn't be the case. I will take responsibility for that as I should have got the quote in writing. Not a huge deal, as I still thought $390.00 was still reasonable because of how thorough of an inspection I was expecting. I made the purchase from the small dealer and my teenage daughter drove the car home; I followed her in my truck. About 5 minutes into the drive, my daughter called me and reported a surging feeling when the car shifted gears and a thud when I downshifted. We swapped vehicles and I drove the car myself. It was obvious there was a transmission issue. I immediately called the local dealership and explained the situation. The dealer told me that the vehicle was sold as is and that I would be responsible, which was not right, but by the letter of the law in CA, is true. My next call was to Maita Mazda; I spoke with Christian in the service dept. I expressed my concerns as to how a certified technician who performed a thorough inspection missed such a major issue. There was a total of 9 miles put on the car from the time it was picked up at Maita Mazda and we arrived home. It was noted that the transmission was in acceptable working order on the inspection report. Christian assured me that the service manager would call me back. 5 days went by with no return call, so I called again and spoke with Christian. He told me he would leave another message for the service manager. A week went by and no return call. I again called Maita, this time I spoke with a lady (I didn't catch her name) and I explained the situation. She was short and abrupt in her responses to me and had a displeased tone/attitude. She told me that they are not responsible for anything and to contact the seller as they are legally responsible (which is not true in CA, the buyer is responsible). The call ended with her taking my name and contact info to pass along to the service manager. She assured me I would receive a return call from the service manager. It has now been 2 weeks and a total of 26 days with no return contact from Maita Mazda. Questioning the legitimacy of the inspection, I then started to look over the car in detail myself. Not only was the transmission showing signs of problems, but the tires also were 6 years old and had multiple cracks and bulge marks along the side wall, the rear wiper blade was falling apart, the passenger seat adjustment bar was broken and the battery has a significant amount of corrosion on the terminals and brackets. All of these issues were not identified or documented in Maita Mazdas's report but were obviously present at the time of inspection. With the tires being a safety issue, I purchased a new set, coincidentally one of the tires had a sidewall blowout on the way to the tire appointment. I am not blaming Maita Mazda for the problems and issues with the car. I am blaming them for not performing the pre-purchase inspection at even a marginal level. If I would have known about the mechanical issues that were present, I would not have purchased the vehicle. I believe the inspection was pencil whipped. An additional example of my claim is that the 4x4 was checked off as ok, but the car is a front-wheel drive vehicle, more evidence of the technician going through the checkbox motions. Now I am stuck with over $3,200.00 in repairs. Again, not More
