We have all been put through the ringer in this miserable vehicle purchasing environment. I live in the Washington, DC suburbs. The large dealership that I have purchased three of my vehicles from, conducted all of my service with and rented from dozens of times is charging a $7000 - $12000 'market adjustment." I will NEVER step foot in there EVER again!!! The dealership closest to me where my family and I have purchased our past three vehicles from mandates a $1600 paint protection package and has a $900 documents fee plus a $180 government fee (even though registering a new car costs a total of $75). They think that you should be grateful since all other dealers are marking up a lot more. Your $1000 deposit is non-refundable at both of these dealerships (that I've dealt with for DECADES) Enter Maguire Toyota in Grand Island, NY (a suburb of Buffalo). After I posted the vehicle that I was seeking on a Facebook page called "No Markup Toyota" approximately 1 year ago, I received a text from Maguire's WONDERFUL Business Development Coordinator, Jennifer Gonzales advising me that one would be coming in and asking if I want it. She remembered me from 1 year ago!!! After that, I heard from a lovely salesperson, Cody Herman. Maguire sells at MSRP. No fluff. No add-ons. No hassle. Their documents fee is $175. I calculated that with the price of a one way $200 plane ticket from DC and them picking me up from the airport, I would still be way ahead (and have the opportunity to take a road trip to Toronto after buying the RAV4)!!! I reserved the vehicle. Then....a different vehicle showed up on their web-site that I wanted more than the other. I texted DELIGHTFUL Jennifer to switch me to that vehicle. No problem. No attitude. This past weekend, I learned that I would inherit a vehicle in excellent condition. I decided to postpone my RAV4 purchase for a couple of years. I texted Jennifer late Sunday afternoon. This morning at 10am (as soon as they opened), Cody contacted me to advise that he had processed the refund of my deposit. No muss. No fuss. Just pleasant, professional service. Several dealers on the Facebook page are very disingenuous. They ACT like they sell the vehicle at MSRP but then require you to purchase expensive and useless add-ons like Toyoguard, a lo-jack, etc. I am very grateful for Maguire Toyota of Grand Island, NY and especially Business Development Coordinator, Jennifer Gonzales and salesperson Cody Herman. My family and I look forward to purchasing vehicles from them in the future!!! More
