This is my first experience in purchasing a Honda automobile, although I have purchased, and still own several Honda motorcycles. The quality of ANYTHING Honda is industry standard. When I decided Honda was the way to go, I sent out numerous feelers to every Honda Dealer in and around the Twin Cities. My person-of-contact at St. Cloud Honda was Scott Kennedy. I informed him exactly what I was looking for. Scott quickly found the car I desired, provided me the numbers which were very competitive, and the deal was a wrap. All the financing was taken care of at St. Cloud Honda, and it could not have been a smoother operation. While the paperwork was being processed, Scott gave me a tour of the whole facility, introducing me to several of the employees. Talking with the Maintenance personnel, I saw first hand some of the offerings to make my Honda a safer, and wiser investment. I absolutely love my 2013 Honda EX V-6 Crosstour, and my entire purchase from "random" thought of buying a Honda, to parking it inside my garage, was phenomenal. I had a great eperience. I stopped into the dealership late afternoon on a Saturday not realizing that I had arrived only ten minutes before closing time. Wes greeted me and asked if I wanted to look at the vehiicle I was looking in the window of. I appoligized for arriving so close to closing time and offered to come back on Monday, but Wes assured me that it was not a problem and offered to show me the vehicle at that time. He even asked me if I wanted to take the vehicle for a test drive and once again stated not to worry about the time. I ended up purcasing and taking delvery of the vehicle that same day. Everyone at the dealership was very friendly and curtious. I would definately recomend Luther Honda of St Cloud to anyone who is in the Market for a new or used car. More
I called Luther Honda of St. Cloud about 2 months ago about a Honda CRV, I talked with Adam Schlicting, I had some questions about the vehicle, as i am a rural letter carrier, and wanted to used the vehi about a Honda CRV, I talked with Adam Schlicting, I had some questions about the vehicle, as i am a rural letter carrier, and wanted to used the vehicle as a mail car. Adam was VERY knowledgable about the vehicle and answered all of my questions. About a week ago I went to a different dealership in a different area and was not at all impressed with the prices that they had. I checked on the internet for vehicles at Luther and found one that I wanted to take a look at from a different dealership, Adam had the vehicle up here the next day, and I bought it!! I am going to recommend St. Cloud Luther Honda and Adam Schlicting to all the mail carrier's in the office, and actually took one of the carrier's with me when I picked up the vehicle last night! We live in the Twin Cities, and had become interested, for another member of our family, in a previously-owned 2003 Honda Element EX listed at the St Cloud dealership. (It had been searched out for me by my salesperson at our ‘home’ Luther Honda dealer in Hopkins, John-Mark Ahinful, from whom we bought a new Element in 2004). I called to inquire and reached sales manager Adam Kretsch, who fully informed me on the pertinent details, and agreed to hold the car for two days until my wife and I could arrange to drive to St. Cloud the following Saturday (2/23/13) to look it over. Adam confirmed our trip plan by phone that morning, and when we arrived, introduced salesperson Wes David to us, who turned out to be one of the friendliest, most enthusiastically competent ‘car-guys’ one could ever expect to meet! He expertly clarified our past, present and future car needs and preferences, and thoroughly reviewed the car’s features, condition, and prospective transaction details. Wes then showed us to the car, highlighted the several extras the original owner had added, sent us off on a test drive, and we returned with a very favorable reaction, except for a ‘steering noise’ I had noted during the test. The service consultant on duty that day, Dave Schueller, was called on to verify the complaint. Dave cited a repair possibility (thought originally to be a loose steering linkage mechanism), which he was prepared to handle that day, given our travel situation. He moved the car into the next slot in his service queue, investigated and found a larger problem (need to replace two front struts), which couldn’t be handled by his department until early the following week. While that problem was being diagnosed, given our expectation of many more years of use by our family member, Wes recommended features we might consider adding to better preserve the value into the future of this very well-cared-for model (dent-protecting door sidebars, and rust-proofing undercoating), which we did write into the order being prepared. Here, Adam moved back into the conversation, apologized for whatever had caused the inexplicable inspection oversight, said the struts could be replaced at no charge, and the car delivered to our door 75 miles away in Edina later the nextweek. So the deal was done, the paperwork handled courteously and expeditiously (by the one fellow whose card I can't find and whose name I unfortunately neglected to note), and we were on our way back home, with our mission accomplished. (As a related side note: during the delay for the shop inspection, we also had conversations with several other friendly staff persons, hearing about the history of Luther’s purchase two years ago of this long established St. Cloud dealership, its already strong sales growth, and major expansion plans. Everyone seemed proud, enthusiastic, and happy to be working there.) Also important to mention in this matter, several days after the sale was officially completed, I had some post-purchase questions that had arisen in my mind which Wes patiently and thoroughly covered to my complete comfort and satisfaction. My point in conveying all of this detail, is to describe the positive process that unfolded for us through that day (all focused on a moderately-priced 10 year old vehicle), and in the following week – with our resulting feeling being that we got a favorable value on a car which uniquely suited to our family’s current need, as well as a trustworthy connection with a reliable, customer-oriented dealer. I recently read an article about car-buying being one of the most anxiety-producing purchases that many people ever make -- and can sincerely attest to the fact that this was the opposite – in fact, it was the anticipated extension of the consistently professional sales and service orientation we have become accustomed to at the Luther Hopkins Honda dealership over the nine years since purchasing our first Honda from them. The leadership, competence and spirit we recently experienced again in St. Cloud causes me to predict that the operation there is going to become a bright star in the constellation of Luther Family dealerships in the state. Dane Fransen did a good job of explaining the issues with my Honda Pilot and what my options were. He was polite, professional and specific about explaining the mechanical issues involved.
