Feeling Duped When working with Navar Hren, I almost immediately felt as though he was treating me like I was unintelligent. When I pulled up to the service center, When working with Navar Hren, I almost immediately felt as though he was treating me like I was unintelligent. When I pulled up to the service center, I handed him a coupon I had received from a previous service. He responded "Yes, that's a coupon. I will need it later," in a way that made me feel like he thought I was stupid to hand it to him right away and that I didn't already know what the piece of paper was. Then, I locked my car, thinking that we would go inside and chat about the service and then he would take my keys to bring my car back. When I locked my car, he said "Uh, I will need the keys to unlock and go inside of your car," as if I didn't understand that that is how a key works. At this point, I was feeling defensive and ready to just hand off my car and get to work on some tasks for work in the lobby. However, what infuriated me the most was when he came out to tell me that the wheel bearings in my front two tires had "fallen off." He then told me that two techs had taken my car out for a drive, which I'm not sure I consented to in the initial paperwork. Then, he said to me verbatim: "They couldn't believe that you didn't notice the rumbling sound!" and laughed. When I looked at him and shook my head, shocked that he was being so disrespectful, he said "Don't worry, they weren't making fun of you," when they clearly were, or else he wouldn't have said that. I was already skeptical about the wheel bearings in that my car was only two years old, I hadn't noticed rumbling, and I hadn't had any problems with the steering, but I went ahead and let them change the wheel bearings while I got a rental car to take home. When I came back, I was dreading dealing with Navar and just grabbed my receipt and description of the services I received and went home. When I was reviewing the description of the services at home, I became incredibly angry that the paperwork said that I had "reported a rumbling sound at the front of the vehicle." I NEVER reported such a sound and had only come in for a routine oil change, 30,000-mile checkup, and tire rotation. At that point, I felt totally duped in that they lied on the paperwork to charge me for something I didn't actually need to get done on my car, all along with being treated disrespectfully. This also makes me think that the alignment in my car, which they claimed was off, was not actually a problem. I ended up spending $200 more than I had anticipated. As a medical student, that was a big expense to incur; I'm pretty sure I didn't even need the wheel bearings and I was just an easy target to disrespect and take money from. When I drove the car home, I noticed no difference from the usual rumbling of the engine. I would have noticed a difference if there was such a clear rumble according to the techs that would suddenly now be gone. Steering was also exactly the same. However, Navar has inspired me to take some auto classes in order to know the right questions to ask, how to challenge someone, and understand the parts of my car. If I can fully dissect a human cadaver and understand all of its parts as part of studying to become a doctor in three years, I can figure out what is inside of a car and not be a sitting duck. However, I am happy to continue the conversation. More
First time getting a VW serviced.....$$$$ First of all, the staff here were very friendly. But as a first time VW owner, I was shocked at the expensive maintenance costs! $80+ for an oil change? Seriously?? I used to take my Honda across the street and they charged me $40. Does Volkswagens use Truffle-infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil? Because they are charging those kind of prices. As far as the waiting area...it was clean, fairly comfortable. Free coffee and cookies. But for the price we are paying, i think they could splurge for flavored coffee creamers...xxxx, for what they charge, there should be an expressso machine! Lol. I’d come back to this service center if I had an issue covered under the warranty, but for other stuff like oil changes, i think ill find somewhere cheaper to take it to. More
