Bad day I was in today just for an oil change. Due to the fact that I am a "preferred customer", or whatever they call those of us who have been with them si I was in today just for an oil change. Due to the fact that I am a "preferred customer", or whatever they call those of us who have been with them since inception, I get my oil changes for free. None the less, I expect to receive the same quality service as a "paying" customer. Believe me, I have paid over and over again through the years. Today I was very disappointed in the quality of care. The inside of my car was not cleaned, no paper was put down on the drivers side for the drivers feet, and no label was put in my windshield for notice of the due date and mileage of my next oil change. This is very unusual service, but I noticed when I was checking in, the service young man who was getting my car ready seemed less than enthused. Perhaps he was having a bad day. Phillip Carlson, my service Advisor is always terrific, as he was today. More

My 2013 had a Blue Link / Homelink rearview mirror so I purchased one for my 2015. I had it installed yesterday, expecting to wait at least a couple of hours, and it was all set to go in just a bit over one hour. I have never had a bad experience with this service department - they are world-class! More

Engine gone bad................ I leased my 2012 Hyundai Sonata from Luther Bloomington Hyundai (MN.) in Feb. of 2012. I was looking for a relieable vehicle that provided good gas mi I leased my 2012 Hyundai Sonata from Luther Bloomington Hyundai (MN.) in Feb. of 2012. I was looking for a relieable vehicle that provided good gas mileage and was rating highly in Consumer Reports. I purchased my vehicle upon completion of my 3 yr. lease. One thing my father taught me was to take care of my cars, follow the recommended service schedule provided in the owners mannual with a trusted service provider and "they'll last forever". I've followed his advice over the years and my new Sonata was no different. I had all my service completed at this dealership up to my last major check at 97,000 miles. A couple of weekends below my car made a funny noise - one I've never heard before (and I"ve driven well of 1,000,000 miles in my life). It sounded like something was catching on a room fan. When I accelerated this noise occured and didn't seem like to engine was getting into gear - kind of catchin.. The last time I punched is down a bit the car totally died and all the engine warning lights came on - It was like Christmas! I had the vehicle towed to repair shop close to my residence. It was a Sat. afternoon - didn't think too much about it knowing I'd have a quick evaluation Monday morning. Much to my surprise the message was NOT what I was expecting. I blew my engine and needed a replacement!! My local guy sourced a used one with 71,000 miles and gave me a quote of $5,300 all up all in. Still is a bit of a state of shock I drove over to Bloomington Hyundai and spoke with Pao Yang, an advisor I had worked with many times. Keep in mind I never saw an oil warning light go on and did not have any oil leaks on my garage floor. I was searching for answers on what I could have done differently. He gave it some thought and concurred that there wasn't much else I could have done. I asked him to have his service manager source for used engines and provide me with a used and new engine quote. I was beyond Hyundai's 100,000 mile warranty (I had 101,500 miles on the car). I've been in sales all my life - I get it, once the warranty expires you're on your own. I ran into a person I knew and we had a 15 min. conversation & when I was about to leave Pao asked me to come over to his desk. He said - "You've been a valued customer of ours and completed everything here, I'd like to try to do something for you". I said ok, that sounds good what do you have in mind. He requested I have my vehicle towed from my local guy to Bloomington Hyundai (no charge by the way per Hyundai's 5 yr. - unlimited mile protection plan) and he'd have his service department tear the engine down. He did say it was a $350 charge and could make no promises but he hoped this would reveal the mystery issue and either way would "write it up" and submit to Hyundai under their Goodwill Program. What did I have to lose?!? Upon teardown the tech discover the #3 rod bearing had spun causing the engine to bind up and stall out at higher RPM's. He also found excess metal shavings in my oil pan. Yes, I needed a new engine!! The write up was submitted to Hyundai and in less than 24 hrs. they offered to cover 70% of my costs and put in a NEW ENGINE! The net, net was $2,000 out of my pocket (labor only). I couldn't say YES fast enough and a couple of days later I picked up my Hyundai up and drove it away!! I have a New Car which will now last me beyond 350,000 miles. Thank You Bloomington Hyundai - THAT is customer service! More
