When spending a large sum to purchase a brand new vehicle, how many miles do you expect to be on it? 10-20 miles? Wouldn't you like to be informed upfront if it were otherwise? The truck came in wi vehicle, how many miles do you expect to be on it? 10-20 miles? Wouldn't you like to be informed upfront if it were otherwise? The truck came in with 183 miles on it. On top of that, it was nearly a week later than promised (I had cancelled plans in order to be available for the pick up, only to be told the night before that they did not have the truck yet). The lack of communication was astounding with this dealership. I do not know why the used car sales manager (Ralph Harper) was even involved, but he was extremely rude to me over the telephone. He stated that there was nothing wrong with the truck, that he himself went out and looked at it. That is all fine and good, but I can drop a car in the Atlantic Ocean and pull it out and make it look fine. He stated that I used a "smart aleck remark" when I asked him a question in regards to the engine. He then proceeded to ask what I wanted in recompense, "a hat?" I'm no expert in public relations but I don't believe that offering someone a hat, when they are clearly upset, is a great way to de-escalate the situation, Ralph. I made a $1000 down payment on the truck and when I asked Matt Baker (New Car Sales Manager) if this was refundable because I was unhappy with the situation, he stated that "typically we don't refund those. I've never recalled us doing one," so no. I felt bullied into buying a truck that I was not completely happy with and because of that, I will never recommend anyone doing business with Lugoff Toyota and I obviously will not be a repeat customer. Addendum: After writing this review, I was contacted through the message system on DealerRater and via telephone by Mark Mason, General Manager. He called to ask how he could make this up to me. I'm sorry, but I've spent hours on the telephone with other managers trying to work things out, prior to the purchase of the truck, but they were all unwilling to negotiate with me. However, for completeness sake of the review, I thought it relevant to include all pertinent information. Since I live ~3 hours from the dealership, Mark's offer of a free oil change was not really applicable. He also offered to throw in floor mats, but the truck already came with them. His final offer was a check for standard mileage rate for the miles that were on the truck. Too little, too late, Mark. More
I tried to buy from these guys. After going through the work of looking at various vehicles and arriving at an agreeable price on one, Megan and I agreed to a particular vehicle and particular price. This was done through email and was well documented. After making the agreement I placed a deposit thinking the negotiation was done. Apparantly an agreed price for a particular vehicle means something different to me than it did them. About an hour after placing the deposit someone named Matt B called to tell me that they needed more money. It is interesting that the agreed price had been floating out there a full day before I made the deposit un-questioned. After that communications that had been quite good suddenly became difficult. Emails stopped coming through, people were busy when I was trying to reach them on the phone, etc. It seems that their customer service depends greatly on whether you have made a deposit. Matt B denied that my emails were getting to him, eventually I got Megan on the phone and asked her to print the email chain including the agreement and hand it to Matt B. They explained that they had an inexperienced employee making pricing decisions. They did acknowledge that they made a mistake, but felt that I should pay for it. Matt B eventually got around to calling me and in spite of the agreement and the deposit he refused to sell the vehicle as agreed. I was very lucky to have a solid record of the agreement because they did not try to keep the deposit. However, it was on a credit card so it would have been easy to dispute. Fortunately, I went to another dealer. This other dealer was Florence Toyota, see my review of them, and the whole thing was easy. Florence Toyota has integrity. We had a truck, a price, I made a deposit, the truck showed up and I paid the agreed price. Easy. The Florence price was just slightly higher than the Lugoff pre-deposit price, but much lower than the post deposit Lugoff extortion price. So Wach out for the people at Lugoff Toyota. Particularly if you are looking at any travel to get there as their extortion program probably works well if you are stranded there. Lugoff Toyota is a slimey dealer, stay away, don't believe their pricing, or bring a lawyer. More

I began this car buying experience by telephone because I live 150 miles away. After the exception treatment by telephone, I drove to Lugoff and met with the salesmen, David Nudelman & Ralph Harper. All I can say is that I was treated truly, exceptionally well. Everything that I was told in fact happened. The weather was very bad with cold and rain the day that I bought the car ( 4 Runner ) and David endured the weather to spin my wife and I up on all the features of the vehicle, he did not cut any corner and is not just a great salesman and representive of Toyota, but a great guy as well. This vehicle transaction was definitely worth the drive and is the most positive vehicle buying experience that I have ever had. Great work Lugoff Toyota!! Base on all of the above is "why" I gave the rating that I have. More

I'd been thinking about trading when an email from Samer Abrahams, General Sales Manager arrived. Lugoff Toyota was celebrating the President's Award and passing along savings. Ralph Harper assisted me a couple of years ago, so I called him. Ralph takes the time to find out what I need in a vehicle. Both he and Cylde Cuttino asked questions and listened to my needs. Clyde was very helpful in comparing models and paid attention to the details. They were there to provide me with a solution, not just sell a car. No fuss, no muss, no pressure... just good, solid, customer service. Business Manager, Allen Hagan, professionally handled the paperwork and fine print. I was out of there in no time. My 1st purchase at Lugoff Toyota was in the mid-80s. Robbie Hunter was the Parts and Service Director then. Robbie Hunter is the Parts and Service Director now. Many of the service staff know me by name. The stability of the staff at this dealership says a lot about them. This is an excellent dealership - I'll be back. More
My experience with Lugoff Toyota was one of the best car buying experiences I have had. I have purchased multiple new vehicles and the process has never been as simple as it was at Lugoff Toyota. We were able to quickly agree on the price of the vehicle and my trade. They went out of their way to get me the best rate possible and I left the dealership very satisfied and happy with the transaction. Brad, Heather, and Ralph were all very professional and couldn't have handled the sale any better. The vehicle was delivered with all agreed upon terms met. I will definitely visit Lugoff Toyota if I am in the market for another new Toyota or a preowned vehicle. More

This, however, is the first time we have purchased a brand new vehicle from them and our service was fantastic. We are extremely pleased with our experience and our Highlander. I must comment on the young sales consultant, Ira Thomas. He demonstrated professionalism beyond his years and was at all times very knowledgeable about the vehicle, patient with all of our questions and concerns, timely in his responsiveness to our requests, and extremely personable.
