I had full service scheduled for June 30, 2014, along with installation of some aftermarket parts, including a hood scoop, which they said they had done before. (My husband had suggested that I take it to Xibit Customs in Hays for the aftermarket stuff but I went against his wishes.) So, here's what happened. As my car was being transferred from service to the body shop, I noticed an awful squeaking sound. (They had just put on new wheels and caliper covers.) I was later told that the covers were rubbing on the rotors but should eventually grind themselves down, so I let it go. After everything was supposedly done and my car was back outside, I noticed that it had not been washed as I had requested. I told them and they got it washed. I also saw that the hood scoop was not flush against the hood as it was gapping on both sides. Thinking that nothing could be done about it, I left with about 50% overall satisfaction. One week and 300+ miles later, I took it to Xibit Customs. They removed the caliper covers, made some minor adjustments and got rid of the squeaking. I asked them about the hood scoop and they said that they could in fact remove it, replace the adhesive and add 2 more screws to eliminate the gaps. They made it look just as it should have the first time around. Several days later, I sent an email to Eric in the body shop in pursuit of compensation for the $110 scoop re-mount. He told me that they had used everything provided in the kit and if additional screws were needed then that is up to the customer as they can not install screws that aren't already there. I can not believe that a certified Ford body shop couldn't acquire 2 extra screws to help properly mount a hood scoop specifically designed for my 2011 Mustang!! Apparently, Long Mac did not really care about my satisfaction with their work, since nobody even took the time to discuss it with me before I left. (And I seriously doubt that it would have done any good to go back in and complain about it before leaving.) What my husband had to say: "I told you so." "Live and learn." "We'll just have to eat it now." :-( UPDATE: As of 8/14/2014, I am very pleased to announce that my issues with Long McArthur have been resolved. They were very apologetic about my experience and also very eager to make things right. They sent me a check for compensation for my extra expenses to have the job done right and even offered to fill my car with gas the next time I am in Salina. In fact, they encouraged me to just stop by. It is nice to know that these guys truly do care about their customers and want them to be nothing less than happy when they drive off their lot. However, I would like to take this opportunity to encourage Long McArthur employees to take the time to communicate more with their customers, both before AND after their work is done. More
We had brought our Ford Ranger in for repairs because it was running very rough. They saw that some lines were leaking, so they ran diagnostic tests, and decided that certain things needed to be completed, was running very rough. They saw that some lines were leaking, so they ran diagnostic tests, and decided that certain things needed to be completed, which they did (which involved bringing in an extended warranty company rep from Wichita to get permission for the repairs).. Unfortunately, their diagnostics were not done properly or completely, because the truck still ran poorly right after leaving their lot. The truck was brought back, and all that they found, supposedly after running another diagnostic, was that the spark plugs were dirty and the fuel system needed to be drained. They specifically stated that there were no mechanical problems, just maintenance issues. When they told us it would cost close to $600 for the service and maintenance, after we had just paid close over $400 for the previous repairs that they had done, we hesitated and decided not to have the work done there. I took the truck to another dealer closer to our home, and they just had to look under the hood and remove some covers to realize that something was seriously wrong. Of course the extended warranty company required another computer diagnostic before they would approve any work, and so we had to pay for another diagnosis AND to pay for a separate deductible. Our new dealer did the required diagnostic and discovered that the gasket and values had needed to be replaced. IF Long-McArthur had done their diagnostics correctly in the first place, we wouldn't have had to pay extra deductibles and extra diagnostic charges. More
Brought my car in three times for the same problem and it never got fixed, then they wouldn't take my car in anymore, even though I still had an issue. Well on our first visit for Service, almost no vehicle to drive while we were waiting ( we were not only having oil change, also putting remote start on ) We had notified Accessory Dept. that we would need vehicle to drive. Service had no record of that. After paying several hundred dollars, had to go find our car, no one offered to show us how to use our new remote start, and car was not washed. One must have to spend more that we did to get the advertised Complimentary Car Wash with any Service. May or may not give them a chance with our second advertised oil change, we will see. More
Was told that vehicle would be finished by noon the next day. Received no call. When I called at 1:00, I was told it would be 4:00 or 5:00. We live 45 miles away. I would have appreciated a phone call letting me know that the part had arrived late, so that I wouldn't have had to wait around all morning for no reason. More
Tim got me in for a mechanical repair on short notice, and out again very quickly. This was important because I was in town for only that day and had to have the truck. I understand how busy everybody is at Long MacArthur but they still get the job done properly. They still have the time to listen to all concerns and handle them professionally. Monte Brent has been very helpful from the time I inquired about the F150 I purchased. Of course the service after the sale makes the difference.
