There was no improper or misleading actions on our part as alleged. We were contacted by Kelly R. and her dad Alex R. asking how a plan purchased by Kelly could be transferred to Alex. In fact, Kelly requested that we find out what the refundable amount would have been, if she chose to cancel the contract, once the Monthly Payment Program company's loan was paid in full, before she decided to move forward with the transfer of coverage. We did as she requested and provided her that information. At no time did we try to sway the customer to do one thing or another, we worked with them to complete the action they requested which was to transfer the coverage to Alex. We had no prior knowledge at the time of transfer that Alex planned to sell the vehicle within a relatively short period of time from the date of transfer. Had he told us his intentions then a deeper discussion of how to handle the matter could have taken place. The terms of the vehicle service contract pertaining to transferability are found in section 11a, where it also addresses the subject of cancellation once a transfer has been made which clearly states a transferred plan can't be cancelled for a refund.

Update 08/29/2024: As you can see, the dealership references the small print in the warranty contract that they knew was there but never bothered telling us. That's what I call a dirty way of not wanting to refund the money. We understand now why it was so convenient for the dealership to transfer a warranty from a daughter to a father. It's such a shame on your part. All this to keep our $3000

Lombard Ford Inc does not hold the funds for a the Ford Service Contract. Ford Motor Company makes the policies and the Dealers need to follow those policies. If Ford would accept the a cancellation from the third party of the service contract, they would send the funds to the dealer to refund the consumer. In this situation the transfer was completed by Ford transffering the ownership to the third party. Ford's rule is clear, the cancellation provision only relates to the person who the service contract was originally sold to. In no way does Lombard Ford Inc have control of the monies paid to Ford for the servicve contracts. If you believe Ford's policy is wrong, you will need to take this up with Ford yourself. In the 42 plus years Lombard Ford has been selling Ford Service Contracts we have transferred the service contracts many times and this issue has never arisen.

I am so glad that you mentioned that, Ford Motor Company did tryed to help my daughter and my self but you refused to reverse the contract back to my daughter's name as Ford Motor Company suggested doing, yes they told both of us that you as the dealership can reverse the contract back to my daughter's name and then we can have the refund. Ford Motor Company Also said that they can't make you do it but they can suggest on how to resolve this properly and your response to Ford Motor Company was we don't know how to do that. Once Again Shame on your Dealership. all this so you Don't have to refund the amount you're DUE. I sent an email to the President of Lombard Ford and no response. that clearly says a lot of Lombard way of doing business. BUYER'S BE AWARE

Unfortunately the person at Ford did not have the correct information. We cannot transfer a policy back once it is changed. The person at Ford let us know that we could not make a change as the first purchaser on the Contract was not you. If you were the originally purchaser Ford would be able to switch the ownership of the service contract, but you were not the original purchaser your daughter was and she transferred her contract to you. The person at Ford thought that you were the first person on the service contract and not your daughter. When Ford found out that fact that she was the original purchaser and not you, we were told that they could not switch it back to your daughter. If you doubt this, please contact Ford and let them know the real fact which was your daughter was the person who first bought the contract and not yourself. Before you slander us any further I would get your facts straight. If you can get Ford to reverse their policy we would be happy to accommodate you. If Ford decides they want to make a refund of the policy and they send it to us, we will gladly issue it to you, otherwise nothing else will be done. The money paid for the contract went to Ford Protect, Lombard Ford does not have control over Ford’s contract terms or policies.
