USED CAR BUYERS BEWARE I paid $10,000 for a 2003 4Runner back in June and from day one I’ve had nothing but problems with it. I thought buying a used 4Runner from a Toyota d I paid $10,000 for a 2003 4Runner back in June and from day one I’ve had nothing but problems with it. I thought buying a used 4Runner from a Toyota dealership that I’d get a decent vehicle. I’ve owned Toyota trucks for over 30 years one new and several used and I’ve never had any major problems with them, until buying from Lithia. The CarFax indicated that Lithia put some money into it before selling it but they fell ethically short in fixing all that was and is wrong with it. The check engine line came on within a month upon owning it and I wasn’t to concerned because I had the same light happen on a used SR5 Tacoma I’d owned before and it was a simple sensor replacement. I had it looked at by a non Toyota mechanic who couldn’t figure out what the light indicated but they managed to stop the light from going on for a while. Meanwhile upon receiving my title after a good 8 weeks, the odometer reading was BLANK. Right then and there I should of informed the Better Business Bureau. This upon hindsight would indicate that the vehicle had been semi rebuilt before selling it to me which is outright fraud. I finally took it into Kendall in October, because I wanted a through and honest appraisal of just what was wrong with it. They ended up having to “dig” all the way into the engine where they discovered shards of metal in the engine. I was told I needed a whole new engine and all the other components that were damaged. Kendall informed me that Lithia had to have been aware when they sold it to me that it had serious issues. I was now stuck between a rock and a hard place because Kendall wanted to charge me close to $8,000 to install and repair everything that was wrong with the 4 Runner. I had to pay them for what work they had done and that cost me close to $3,000, to put it back to a semi driveable state. I ended up taking it back to Lithia and spoke with the service manager Ken Anderson who managed to persuade me to let them make it right, and we agreed upon a set price of $3500 and he kept emphasizing that “they” would replace all the necessary components at no additional cost to me. I insisted that photos be taken while the engine was being put back together and Ken assured me in his texts that he was “giving me the very best engine that will run for years to come.” This a direct quote from his text message, that I still have on my phone! This under warranty engine work was completed on October 26th. Over the coarse of the next four and a half months I only put on 2287 miles on the “very best engine” when the Maint light came on indicating It needed a oil change. Took it into Kendall and was informed that I have a slow engine leak. This was on March 13th and now I have vehicle that could leave me stranded at any point just because Lithia has no integrity whatsoever and is only concerned with their profit margins. So either Lithia’s mechanic is extremely incompetent, or he is doing exactly as he is told and only fixing it to the point of $3500 dollars of parts and labor and leaving out essential gaskets and/or sealant so I will have to return and have the engine “rebuilt “ once again. In conclusion, even though my rebuilt engine is still under warranty I am more then skeptical that my 4runner will ever be fixed to the point where I can trust it to run more than a couple thousand miles. I have put over $17,000 into it, and Lithia has none nothing to warrant my trust . To reiterate , DON’T BUY ANY USED VEHICLE FROM LITHIA, THEY HAVE NO INTEGRITY. More

Easy car buying experience as they advertise Bought our 2020 rav4 xle premium. The price offered after the discounts was the best. The communication over email/texts was welcoming and friendly. Did not have such experience at few other local dealerships I visited, therefore we chose to drive 2 hours each way to buy our car from Lithia Toyota at Springfield. At the dealership, we spent about an hour. We were not pressured to buy optional items like extended warranties. The finance person also was friendly and explained the paperwork we were signing very well. More
