Lithia Reno Subaru was one of several stops last weekend as we began the test driving phase of our search for a new vehicle. We were originally looking for a small SUV and were interested in Subaru for the as we began the test driving phase of our search for a new vehicle. We were originally looking for a small SUV and were interested in Subaru for the Forester. At Lithia Reno Subaru we worked with Calin Varga. Calin was very professional, he listened to our needs and interests and talked with us about the Forester but he also introduced the Outback as an option (we had specifically excluded the Outback as we thought it too small for what we wanted). He asked a few questions that helped us quickly focus on models that would best suit our needs and lifestyle and he patiently addressed our questions allowing us to drive the process. He did look impatient or push for a sale, which was very much appreciated and NOT what we experienced at some other dealerships. After visiting several other dealerships and driving other vehicles we had short listed, we decided on the Outback. We moved into the price negotiation phase this weekend for the model and option package we were interested in following the recommendations on Edmunds.com. I contacted the internet service managers at several local Subaru dealerships and called Calin to let him know what I was doing and that my preference would be to buy the car from him since he had given us such great service during our test driving phase, but that it would come down to price. He was very open with me on what he could and could not do whereas others played it closer to the chest urging me to come in and sit down with them, which I was not interested in doing until I had a deal established. In a couple of hours on late Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning going back and forth with the various internet service managers and Calin, we arrived at a deal I was happy with. Calin had won our business and when we went into the dealership yesterday (Sunday) afternoon to get the purchase finalized, Calin continued to impress us. He handled the sales process quickly and efficiently and worked hard to ensure we felt very good about the process and the price we had negotiated. The final piece was getting a deal established for an older Honda van that had some problems that we wanted to trade in, which he handled as well as he handled everything else. As we drove home in our new vehicle, my wife and I agreed that this was the most pleasant car buying experience either of us have ever had. A lot of the credit for that goes to Calin and how he listened to our needs and how he worked with us throughout the entire process to make sure we were comfortbale with the process and that we would be happy with our purchase. When I first went to Reno Lithia Subaru I was searching for a used Outback or similar. Jesse Watkins was very helpful in finding me what I really wanted, a 2012 Impreza hatchback. We'd been car shopping for my Son - who wanted a pre-owned Subaru - for several weeks. As with any young adult, he didn't have much to spend. He'd found a few Subarus locally from private parties, but neither one of us was impressed with the selection or credibility of the vehicles. I'm familiar with Lithia Subaru after living in the area for most of my life, and also through their ads in the weekly paper. Subaru, of course, is a well-known, reliable brand which I've owned, and was very satisfied with its reliability, so I was confident in my Son's choice. While visiting Lithia Reno Subaru for another reason, I spotted a Subaru Outback and decided to check it out, even though I assumed the price would be too much for my Son to afford. Jesse Watkins from Lithia's sales team offered to help and was very friendly and accommodating in the process. After picking up my Son, I returned to Lithia Subaru and, as I anticipated, my Son liked the car. We took it for a test-drive and everything appeared to be fine, except the air conditioning, which didn't seem to work. When it came time to make an offer, Jesse explained that the dealership would fix the A/C. Even so, I was skeptical that my Son's budget would allow him to purchase the car. After checking with Randy Goldman - the General Manager - Jesse returned to say that we had a deal. Needless to say, we were extremely happy with both how we were treated and with the price. Randy took the time to stop by and thank us afterward, stressing how important we were to the dealership, which was one of those "above and beyond" touches that customers rarely seem to get from any business, let alone an auto dealer. We're picking up the car today and I know my Son is thrilled. Consequently, I'm thrilled. Thank you, Jesse, Randy and Lithia Reno Subaru! More
