I both bought a car here and did some routine maintenance on my car here. The salesman was honest and decent and worked hard to get me a car at a price point (with a nice commission, I'm sure) that I could a on my car here. The salesman was honest and decent and worked hard to get me a car at a price point (with a nice commission, I'm sure) that I could afford. I did not think I would be able to purchase a new car and my salesman found some discounts that dropped the price to a point that I could afford (first time car buyer, etc.). He did seem like there were certain things that he was required to say and I did receive one of those corporate surveys (the ones that will get an employee suspended for a week with no pay if you give the employee an 8 out of 10 instead of all 10 out of 10s – or worse – fired). I gave him a 100% excellent score and still am happy with the sales service he provided me. I do recommend the sales department. I do not recommend the car service and repair department. Before my current car, I had an old beater car that broke down routinely every other oil change. Being a young female that has a knack for showing up to the car repair shop alone oh boy did I have a hard time finding a place that didn’t a. lie to my face or b. rip me off. Having a new car at a place that seemed to staff such honest and decent people as my salesman, I figured that I was in safe hands and that I might just finally be able to trust a car repair shop. I figured that the dealership was doing more than well and did not feel the need to act corruptly out of desperation. I wasn't actually in safe hands. The staff are friendly and accommodating and the give good customer service. I am giving them a bad rating because it's all a front - they are not honest and they will rip you off with a fake smile on their face every chance they get. The 15,000 mile marker service required an oil and filter change and a tire rotation. They originally were going to do a $300+ package that included changing the windshield wipers on a brand new car had I not asked what the price was going to be. When I got sticker shock, they said that they would only change the oil, switch the filters and do the tire rotation. That price was $40 for the oil change, $30 for the tire rotation, $75 for the cabin filter and $45 for the engine filter. Right there, a red flag shot off in my head. Those prices sounded like a rip off to me. But, I did it anyway. I handed the nice man at the counter a coupon for $20 and he countered me saying that he had a better coupon that could drop the price a little more than the one I handed him. I said ok since it seemed like I was only going to pay $130. After my previous oil change, the person I talked to them left me under the impression that this oil change was only going to cost $100 (which, should have been another red flag for me). I shouldn't have done it, I should not have handed my car over to them. My initial agreement with the front desk guy was that they would change the filters (cabin, oil and engine), do an oil change and rotate the tires only. They did a whole bunch of additional work that I did not ask for that included several multi point inspections. The total labor cost for all of this was nearly $100. Parts were more than $80. I did receive my $20 discount. I did not receive the discount he promised. I cannot afford to keep going to this place. I cannot afford what I currently have to pay. I will be lucky if I pay that off by my next oil change. My real problem is that I let a car shop take the reins. There are no prices listed on the wall behind the front desk workers, because of that, I have no way of cross-checking their honesty in regards to their prices for the services they offer. They were not upfront with me nor were they clear and honest with me about what maintenance they were actually going to do - which they should have been for a $300 price tag. I assumed that the 15,000 mile check up meant something very, very different than what it clearly actually is. For all I know, he was 100% just making up the prices of the different maintenance repairs to gage my reaction. So really, the responsibility lies with me. I should have known. I should have taken my car, ran away and price shopped like I do for absolutely everything else. I will be calling to complain and I since I live half an hour away, I will start getting my car maintenance done at local shops closer to where I live rather than be loyal to a place that is just going to rip me off as often as possible. Besides, $40 is a little expensive for a basic oil change anyway, even if a repair shop is actually trustworthy and worth my time. More
Kostya lied to me, claiming to have in stock a car I was looking for. I was skeptical as to whether this was true because he kept switching sales tactics. Upon confrontation, he still did not come clean and looking for. I was skeptical as to whether this was true because he kept switching sales tactics. Upon confrontation, he still did not come clean and claimed that the only way I could find what I was looking for was to come into the dealership. That may be true--but lies are not an acceptable way of doing business. More

Andrew Richter was an outstanding sales person for me and my purchase of my new Optima. He was very honest, knowledgeable and followed-through with all of his promises. I would highly recommend him for any my purchase of my new Optima. He was very honest, knowledgeable and followed-through with all of his promises. I would highly recommend him for anyone interested in a new KIA within 50 miles of their store in Libertyville. Their general manager (Mike?) and finance manager (Jay) were also fantastic guys to deal with. My experience couldn't have been more pleasant. Their price was untouchable by their competitors. They are motivated to be the number one Kia dealership in Illinois. What a great experience in the purchase of a new car! You won't regret your time spent with this store and personnel. More

We have purchased many cars during the years. And we've always had a bit of an aversion to most car dealerships and their sales people. After our experience with Liberty Auto Plaza, I can say my exp we've always had a bit of an aversion to most car dealerships and their sales people. After our experience with Liberty Auto Plaza, I can say my experience was great, maybe even fantastic. We needed a car quickly. Micheal McConnell took care of us right from the start. We had talked to him on the phone and he felt he could really help us get the car we needed at the best price. He made it all happen, getting us connected to the right people at the dealership who got us the very best deal. There is a real professionalism to Micheal. He listened first, was genuine in wanting to help solve our needs, and, after taking it all in, he executed everything with precision and focus. We could not be happier with the result: a great, new car at what I think was a really good price (taking advantage of all the incentives that were available and more). We feel fortunate to have worked with Micheal McConnell and Liberty Auto Plaza to purchase my new car. More

First let me just start off by saying "I hate buying a car". Not that I don't love a new car, but I hate the whole car buying process. Pushy sales people, with even pushier general managers and a cred a car". Not that I don't love a new car, but I hate the whole car buying process. Pushy sales people, with even pushier general managers and a credit department that wont let you leave until they have the shirt off your back. It's usually a long day that leaves me with a bad headache, an empty wallet and a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. I don't get to enjoy my new car for days until I get over the experience of buying it. Amy Lewis made my recent purchase at Liberty Auto Plaza a great one. I got a very competitive price making it worth the hour drive to get there. Everything was done ahead of time through email and a couple of phone calls. There was no high pressure sales tactics to force me to buy any more than what I wanted. Everyone I met the day I picked up the car was top notch. Rob Johnson got us going on our paperwork as soon as we got there and then kept us entertained while we waited for the credit manager. The credit manager broke everything down and gave us several options. He offered us several extended warranty options, but I did not feel forced to purchase anything that I didn't want. Overall this was a great experience and I would come back the next time I was in the market for a car. My only regret is that they aren't closer so I can bring my car in for scheduled maintenance. Purchased a 2013 Passat TDI from Liberty. Got great pricing via the internet, immediate follow-up from Amy who answered all my questions. They had the car I wanted, the deal matched what they quoted, pricing via the internet, immediate follow-up from Amy who answered all my questions. They had the car I wanted, the deal matched what they quoted, and the transaction when I came to pick up the car was hassle-free. They had the car ready to go (including the WI paperwork), and did not press too hard on selling the "rust coating" or the extended warranty. (Would be nice if dealers would dispense with that nonesense altogether, but they all do it and at least the folks at Liberty don't try to twist your arm over it.) Very happy with the transaction, and worth the drive from WI! More
