Leased a 2025 Honda Ridgeline from Kingston Lia Honda on 10/23/2024. Have been dealing with the service department loyally for several years. Nothing but praise for the service department. Service advisors 10/23/2024. Have been dealing with the service department loyally for several years. Nothing but praise for the service department. Service advisors Mark and Sue along with Honda senior tech John have been great. Was in for service and ended up leasing a new Honda the same day. That was a huge mistake! Bottom line. DECEPTIVE sales tactics to get a sale. Spent hours working on a deal. First, price of new auto. Second, trade in price. Verbal agreement to proceed with purchase. Salesman Luther Johnson who asked me for ID when I first started talking with him (red flag) said we had a deal after the typical games. Never explained the contract or showed actual prices paid and trade allowance. It was late, had been there for many hours, signed where needed on a iPad with small text and took possession of the vehicle and left my trade only to find out days later as Luther had not forwarded me the sales contract via e-mail as promised even after e-mailing and calling him the following days. When I finally obtained the documents, it was clear LIA Honda never honored the verbal agreement or their own worksheet numbers. LIA sales tacked money back on the price of the new vehicle in the back room before signing. From "we can't do that" to "you have a deal" when in reality, it was all a LIE to get a sale. Contacted General Manager Ross Hubert via e-mail. Finally got a copy of the contract. After seeing I was scammed and lied to, immediately called and stopped in with my paper work and "worksheets." Ross admitted I was charged more (about $1,400) than agreed upon yet defended this deceptive sales tactic as if it were the norm at LIA Honda and said "I think you have buyers remorse" and "you lied about your trade-in" because I wasn't sure if I was going to trade-in my one owner 2014 Ridgeline, keep it, or run up to Albany, NY and sell to Carmax and purchase a Ridgeline in the Albany area. After back and fourth, Sales Manager Ross Hubert agreed to get me a Honda Ridgeline OEM Bed Cover which I figured was better than nothing. My feelings as of today: Need service? You should be fine. Sales? STAY AWAY from any LIA Honda or other brand LIA dealership. I, a senior citizen on a fixed income, now feel like crap when I walk in their dealership and have higher car payments. Gave LIA of Kingston the first chance to get a high quality, clean Honda trade-in which they serviced for years and knew well. In the end, LIA still scammed me. Don't think for one second Ross got me a "free" bed cover after a sale just to be nice. His first offer was free oil changes. As they say, I have the receipts. Am I the first Salesman Luther Johnson, Sales Manager Curtis Knight and Mathew Panaro (names on paperwork) in LIA Honda sales department played this game with? Sure didn't seem or sound to be the case. You decide. Will still use the service department (for now) but will NEVER purchase or lease from LIA again. Would you? Curtis H. More
Robert Munson saved my family ski trip. I was in Kingston on the first leg of a ski trip that was going to take me and my daughter through Vermont and New Hampshire when a warning light wen I was in Kingston on the first leg of a ski trip that was going to take me and my daughter through Vermont and New Hampshire when a warning light went on in my Honda Pilot. It said "System Emission Problem". I saw Lia Honda of Kingston was about a half hour from my hotel so I made the drive. Upon arriving I went in and talked to Robert and asked if it was going to be an issue to drive a long distance with this particular light on and he informed me that it most certainly would not be great. At this point I was beside myself and thought the trip was ruined, but Robert then took the time to take a scan of the car to get an idea of what the problem might be. He then called for an emergency service to get the car looked at by the technicians to determine what the problem was. It was discovered that it was the fuel injectors and that they happened to have the part in stock so they were able to make the repairs that night! I could not believe that this was able to be accomplished as I know they had a lot of services to perform that day. I was so overwhelmed by the kindness and understanding of our situation that I almost started crying. When talking to Robert after the repairs he informed me that their philosphy was to take care of family. It is so refreshing to see this type of character to come from a large dealership. I cant thank the team at Lia Honda of Kingston for helping my daughter and I continue on a memorable ski trip! More
