My daughter goes to school in Tampa and we live in South Carolina. I had her bring the car in for service prior to the semester ending to make sure there would no issues while she was traveling home. I took my 13 yr old car in for a check of the brakes & I walked away with a repair estimate of over $7,800! The consultant gave me a “hard sell” that the car was unsafe to drive off the lot (“I wouldn’t let walked away with a repair estimate of over $7,800! The consultant gave me a “hard sell” that the car was unsafe to drive off the lot (“I wouldn’t let my grandmother drive it”), & even tried to convince me he was giving me a discount on parts. Now, I realize there are issues other than brakes that should be attended to but I feel certain he was taking advantage of me. I sought an independent mechanic who will be able to fix all truly necessary issues for less than $2,000. I will never trust the dealer again. As they say, I was born at night but not last night!! More
