Lexus of Portland: Predatory Pricing Tactics and Shady Add-Ons – A Dealership to Avoid My recent experience with Lexus of Portland was beyond disappointing. I inquired about purchasing a 2025 Lexus GX5 Add-Ons – A Dealership to Avoid My recent experience with Lexus of Portland was beyond disappointing. I inquired about purchasing a 2025 Lexus GX550 Overland+ and was immediately met with the typical shady dealership tactics of inflating prices with unnecessary, overpriced add-ons. Sales Associate Abigail C. insisted on charging an additional $4,985 for so-called “protection packages” like Stargard GPS Theft Tracking, Cilajet Ceramic Protection, and PAC Windshield Protection/Replacement. It’s a clear attempt at price gouging, exploiting customers looking for a new, high-demand vehicle. What’s even more insulting is that we purchased a 2024 BMW X7 earlier this year and had all add-ons removed while getting $9,000 off MSRP. Recently, I visited a local dealership in Washington that confirmed the tracking device is completely optional and can be removed before the sale. The sticker on the car window even states: “The device… will be deactivated prior to delivery or can be purchased at the customer’s option.” So why is Lexus of Portland, through Abigail C., pushing this as a mandatory charge? It’s an obvious cash grab, plain and simple. No one wants a third-party tracking device when the vehicle already comes with one built-in. This behavior shows a complete disregard for customer intelligence and is precisely why people despise dealing with car dealerships. It’s predatory, dishonest, and reeks of trying to nickel and dime the customer. To the owner of Lexus of Portland: these underhanded practices are disgraceful. Forcing overpriced, worthless add-ons and holding vehicles hostage over MSRP is a surefire way to lose customers. It’s clear you have no interest in building genuine customer relationships, only in making a quick buck at the customer’s expense. I have decided to skip this dealership entirely, and you have officially lost me as a potential customer. If you want an honest car-buying experience, avoid Lexus of Portland at all costs. There are far better dealerships out there that will respect you and your hard-earned money. More

We were allowed to explore vehicle inventory at our leisure. This was helpful to not be pressed by sales person as to whether we liked what we were viewing. The environment within the service center is relaxed and professional. I especially appreciated the video report for the service on my car. It was extremely helpful and easy to understand. As a result, I was very confident in the service I would receive. This was my second positive experience at Lexus of Portland. I intend to return for routine service for my car in the future. And when the time comes...I will return to purchase my next Lexus. Thank you to Brian and your entire service team. More
I’m very disappointed Lexus of Portland is unwilling to sell me a new Lexus for MSRP, even though several other dealers will. I’d prefer to buy local and don’t feel I should have to travel out of state to sell me a new Lexus for MSRP, even though several other dealers will. I’d prefer to buy local and don’t feel I should have to travel out of state to get a fair price. Lexus of Portland still follows the ‘old school’ unscrupulous practice of forcing you to buy overpriced dealer installed protection items which are clearly only meant to bolster dealer profits. Things like paint sealant, theft protection and windshield insurance, all widely known as low value/high profit margin options. I even offered to pay $1500 over MSRP as I would incur a similar expense to ship my new car from the out of state dealer. But the General Sales Manager, Jeff Gilmore, doubled down on his ‘pricing strategy’ saying he’d only sell me one if I bought nearly $5000 in ‘protection’ that I neither want nor need. Shame on you Lexus of Portland. I guess I will be forced to buy from Longo Lexus in Southern California to get a fair deal. More
The cost of a key for today’s cars is ridiculous! You charged me over $100 when you couldn’t even make the key. You spent probably 5 to 10 minutes when you found that it couldn’t be programmed. You charged me over $100 when you couldn’t even make the key. You spent probably 5 to 10 minutes when you found that it couldn’t be programmed. Three days later another shop worked a couple hours on my truck and were unable to find the problem. NO CHARGE! Maybe that should plant an idea for a service policy in your business plan! More
