No coffee/no refreshments/aggressive sales I was not happy with Stephen Berkowitz. Personally, I felt we were interrogated by this salesman and pushed to buy a much more expensive vehicle. My w I was not happy with Stephen Berkowitz. Personally, I felt we were interrogated by this salesman and pushed to buy a much more expensive vehicle. My wife simply wanted to see the rear legroom for the third seat in the RX or a higher model within a 40-60k price range. When we had finished looking at the two SUVs within our budget, we were brought to Mr. Berkowitz. He questioned us what we drove, where we were from, and what we were doing in Middletown. I understand for him it may be small talk, but the way he quickly asked the questions and stared at us didn't make it feel like small talk. I felt like I was being pulled over by a cop or cross-examined. When I explained to Mr. Berkowitz that we just wanted to see the leg space in one of the suvs in our price budget, and wasn't interested in buying a car at the dealership since we were out of state. He then suggested the LX, the top of the line SUV for 90k. I told him about our budget but he said you cant put a price on a car's looks. I assume he was referring to me buying the LX for the looks and not the legroom. First off the car is for my wife who is concerned with legroom, and not for me so I am not sure why he was trying to push the looks of LX to me. Secondly, I don't think the Lexus can compete with the looks of the German SUVs. Another problem with the dealership is that coffee or water was not offered while we waited, which is a huge thing. I have been at many car dealerships, and it is a standard for all of them to offer some refreshments - especially, when the customer is waiting. We had just wanted to see the legroom in the RX's 2nd and 3rd rows. Unfortunately, I personally felt Stephan Berkowitz's "small talk" was not friendly; but rather aggressive in the way he asked questions very quickly and with his posture and facial expression. Also in trying to push us to buy a 90k vehicle when that was about 40k out of our budget. I understand that for him and for our dealers this is just small talk, but for the general population that haven't bought Lexuses at their dealership - it is not small talk but aggressive, unwanted sales talk; which push people away from these kind of dealerships. No games, stress free I walked into this dealership after walking out of another one where they had tacked on all these extra fees to the advertised price. I asked John what the final price of the car was and he said "that it". I was so surprised that I had to ask him again to make sure. Plus, the car was priced lower than any other Venza in a two hour radius. Well worth the 1.5 hour ride. More
