Rick VanPelt at Lexus of Naperville worked trying to get the Lexus app on my phone recognized by my car on 2 separate days for a total of almost 5 hours and he’s not the salesman that sold me the car! I am a lifelong Toyota owner. I’ve been driving Toyota’s exclusively since 1976. On Saturday, May 13, I went to Lexus of Naperville for my 11 AM appointment to drive a 2011 Toyota I’ve been driving Toyota’s exclusively since 1976. On Saturday, May 13, I went to Lexus of Naperville for my 11 AM appointment to drive a 2011 Toyota Avalon limited that I was hoping to purchase. I met with my salesman George. A very nice guy who made me feel comfortable and welcomed. He took a copy of my drivers license, and then I took the car on a long test drive. It drove great and overall I was very pleased with the car and wanted to purchase it. I had a few concerns that I wanted to discuss with the sales manager prior to purchase. The brakes seemed a little soft, the headlight lenses were very foggy, and the steering column seem to be slightly loose. I was hoping to get these issues addressed and then purchase the car. I explained my concerns to Mohammed, the used car manager, but he shut me down not even wanting to discuss any of the issues. He simply said that the car had been reconditioned and if any of those issues were a dealbreaker, there’s nothing you can do about it. Hard to imagine that a customer get treated that way especially at a Lexus dealership. Being smug and condescending is not the best avenue to pursue when you’re trying to get someone to purchase something from you. All Mohammed needed to do was to simply sit down and discuss the issues with me like a professional instead of being smug and condescending. He single-handedly drove me out of the dealership and killed the sale on this car. I fully intend to buy the car. I came with cash. I was ready to make a deal until I got shut down. Lexus of Naperville might be a great place to buy a new Lexus, but if you’re in the market for a used, car, you might do best to shop at another dealer. But if you find yourself shopping used cars at Lexus of Naperville, keep in mind, it’s buyer beware and do your best to definitely stay away dealing with Mohammad. More
