Most people are never too excited to deal with an over enthusiastic car sales person so to be greeted by a professional with similar goals - to find that just right vehicle- can be a breath of fresh air. Our experience was just that when we were greeted by Catherine Vandergriff at Lexus of Knoxville. Catherine made our experience a joy rather than a stressful event and I honestly felt like a friend was helping us with our purchase of a Lexus IS 200T. We were grateful for the courtesy we were shown and sincere excitement expressed by the folks at the dealership and especially by Catherine when we bought our first Lexus. More

We arrived early for our appointment yet we were taken in right away and given a beautiful loaner to use in running errands while our car was being serviced. Upon our return the receptionist made sure we were comfortably seated in the lounge area while we only had a few more minutes to wait. Terrible!!! Do not recommend at all!!! Well, when I first bought my car it was the easiest Car buying experience. Well... since it has turned into the biggest NIGHTMARE EVER! We bought a 20 Well, when I first bought my car it was the easiest Car buying experience. Well... since it has turned into the biggest NIGHTMARE EVER! We bought a 2015 Lexus Is250 that was the “service vehicle”. I’ll just list all the issues below... 1) we asked if the car had ever had any body work done, the sales lady said no and showed us the Carfax, which was “clean” ... when the deal was done and we were home my husband took it to get the windows tinted and noticed the paint looked funny on the back quarter panel.My husband pulls a Carfax and it shows that the car had been in an accident and where it was fixed at and the damage done. My husband called the body shop and got all the information and the pictures from the body shop of the damage. He calls the dealership and speaks with the GM -Gary Hughes (who is no longer there) and he tried to deny everything. We live 100 miles away and we decided to just go down there. He seen all the info we had and that we knew what we were talking about and then agreed to fix it and begged us not to tell anyone about this.... that he would take care of it. 2) Lexus of Knoxville came and got my car to bring it in the shop to repair the paint - which honestly looked like it had been painted on hot summer night by a pond and the paint was FULL of bugs and dust! They called me 2 days later and told me they were ready for me to bring my car down to be repaired they had the parts in. THEY HAD MY CAR! I told them they had it and I had a loaner from them. They got off the phone immediately with me and my husband called them. 4 HOURS LATER they found my car! They call me that evening and said it was finished (that was fast- considering all they were fixing and painting) So we drove 100 miles on Saturday morning to go pick it up, the GM met us at the door basically blocking us from coming in. I demanded to see my car and he took us to it after telling me it wasn’t done and I can’t have it! All I can say is THANKFULLY my husband had made pictures of our car before they left with it. It had a HUGE chunk of paint took out of the front bumper. He was like “Not my problem” until I said yes it is your problem and showed him the pictures... 3)My car was at Lexus of Knoxville for 1 MONTH! I made my first payment while it was still at Lexus! 4) Gary Hughes also assured us since we were so unhappy with our experience, if we decided to trade Within 4-6 months he would give us back 100% of what we paid for the car and we could get something else. Well, we looked into the GX460... they offered me $12,000 less of what we paid!!! Once again another LIE! 5)We bought the extended service plan which was $1,400. We were told it would be able to be used at Lexus of Kingsport and we could have our service done there to keep us from driving 100 miles... WRONG!! Another LIE! 5) my husband called the 3rd party service plan group today to see about being able to use another dealer that is closer to us. Sure they said... but the only problem is they don’t have anything saying we have a service plan. The only thing they have is showing us to have the Shadowmark. So he called the dealership and spoke with the New GM, he said he would take care of it immediately, it was a mistake in the computer in keying it in. My husband calls the lady back to let her know and she says she still has nothing, no paperwork or anything. She proceeds to call Lexus of Knoxville and they HANG UP ON HER 3 TIMES!!! My husband then calls and is sent straight to a voicemail. A man from Lexus of Knoxville TEXT my husband this morning and says he found “our contract” and was unable to do anything since it was Saturday and the service company is closed. He sent my husband a picture of said contract. We have the original and the one he sent is totally false. It has the wrong date we purchased the car, and it don’t have my signature... seems like someone took our $1,400 and falsified contracts! I hope this helps someone who is considering using this dealership! Stay away!! And BEWARE!! More
