Rip off artists I brought my Honda CRV in for a mandatory recall. Got a call that power cable connected to recall part broke. It wasn't broken when I dropped it off I brought my Honda CRV in for a mandatory recall. Got a call that power cable connected to recall part broke. It wasn't broken when I dropped it off. They wouldn't release my car until I paid the $61. I tried talking to the service manager, but they gave me some lie about the manager being on vacation and they were sure he would want to refund me that charge. Two weeks later no call, nothing. What a rip off. I don't have time to try and get the money back. I will never step foot on that lot, or buy a Honda again. Terrible experience. I am discouraged from ever bringing my car in for a recall. Really feels like consumer fraud. More
Lied about work performed - 2 different lies proven wrong - 1. Stated my oil plug was stripped because i went to a jiffy lube service and needed to replace the entire oil pan 2 different lies proven wrong - 1. Stated my oil plug was stripped because i went to a jiffy lube service and needed to replace the entire oil pan - i let them do it to stay within warranty although a month later while at another shop and truck up on lift for new tires i and the mechanic noticed it was the original oil pan with rust in spots and they just retapped a $10 plug instead …Coast charged me $500 for the pan and service fee - plus a rental car i had to have 2. Stated they replaced my heat shields for $800 and they lied - all they did was tap weld them back together because in under a year they rattled again and had them looked at by Goodyear in Point Pleasant Beach and while under the truck you could see they were old and never replaced - again out of warranty and coast denied … Will NEVER go back to Coast for service or purchase again More
If you had asked me about a year and a half ago about Coast Honda I would have given nothing but a rave review for them. I was a customer for the last 10 years bought my 1st accord there and had that one Coast Honda I would have given nothing but a rave review for them. I was a customer for the last 10 years bought my 1st accord there and had that one serviced there and bought my current 07 accord there for service up until November of last year. In January 2012 I needed front and rear brakes and 4 tires which was already going to be a nice bill right there $1285. At that time they had suggested I do a transmission flush and I had said ok go ahead and do it because they are Honda and I trusted them in which case was always my feeling with them. I can not count how many times I walked in there telling John and Steve and anybody else I've dealt with there Id rather pay you guys the more money to have it done right and if not know you guys back your work up. Your Honda right? WRONG!!!!!! Come 5 months later(June2012) my transmission was "In the early stages of going" and I would need a new transmission. I had about a week to think about what I was going to do. I bought the car in 08 used so it still wasn't payed off. I really couldn't afford to get rid of it and get something else so I decided to fix it there was no other choice. I dropped the car off on a Monday and was told it should be done by Thursday. I did have to get a rental and when getting the rental I had said to the guy at enterprise I didn't mean to be fussy but I am going to have this car a few days so did he have anything equivelant to my car gas wise because I can not afford anything bigger. Well once again they only had a mini van. He then tells me its ok it has plenty of gas in it and don't worry about bringing it back to the point that it was at. Ok. We now go outside to the mini van that only had enough gas in it to get me back to Toms River from there that day. So after leaving the dealer that day and speaking to one of the GM 's about why American Honda was only giving me $1000 towards my car his response was "I don't know Im so sorry I told them how good of a customer you are." Coast Honda still decided to charge me the $5 a day for the rental that I ended up having till Friday and having to put $20 worth of gas in it. So on top of the $2599.00 bill I got I still payed another $45 to them. So now after speaking with a few people who know their stuff about cars had said to me that the rule of thumb is that if you have NEVER flushed your transmission fluid before with the amount of miles I had (which was only 78,500) was to leave it alone. So why in January did they recommend I do this when they know they have been the only ones who have done work to my car and that had never been done before. So now after fighting with the oh so nice people at American Honda they had decided to help me by putting $1000 towards my new transmission and I was responsible for the rest. $2599.00 to be exact. I swore after that I would never step foot back in there and WILL NEVER buy another Honda because of this horrible experience. So now months go by and I was having some issue with one of my new tires put on in January leaking. The tires did have a one year warranty on it so I went back for them to look at my tire and I had also said give me the wash and vacuum for $14.95 well after a good 2 hours of sitting there and paying $16 after taxes for the car wash my car came out filthy dirty liked it had never been touched and now all of a sudden I have a huge puddle in my cup holders, My floors in the backseat were sopping wet, and the backseats as well all soaking wet. After spending another hour there for them to re clean my car and dry the car out I somehow have a broken sunroof and that is what caused all the water in the car. They first tried to claim "you must have left the sunroof open" Really???? It was a pretty chilly day in November, who drives with their sunroof open in November? Second this car was outside the whole time during Hurricane Sandy and I never had a drop of water in my car those 2 days. So how my car survived Hurricane Sandy but couldn't survive their car wash just AMAZES me. Btw the difference between the hurricane and me bringing my car there was a matter of 2 weeks if that. In fact the reason I did wait so long in the first place for the tire to be fixed was because this had been the first real day that they had been opened since the hurricane and weren't running on generators, and that is why they were so backed up. I won't go on anymore but I will just say that to this day I still do not have a working sunroof because "I had a lot of debris in there" they had to completely disconnect the entire thing and that it would cost $115 to clean that out and that still wasn't a guarantee that that was the problem and would fix it. I have trusted these people for the last 10 years of giving me good, honest advice, and service but I guess that just doesn't mean anything anymore. Honda you have lost a customer for life. More

Although, I haven't bought a car from Coast in almost 3 years, when I did they went out of their way to be competitive and earn my business. But, it's all about service. And, the service at Coast is abso years, when I did they went out of their way to be competitive and earn my business. But, it's all about service. And, the service at Coast is absolutely an A+. Always accommodating when I call, quick turnaround, supplying a loaner if I need one and most important only recommending the service I need. An added bonus is they'll also make me aware of any discount coupons that are available. Buying a car is a one time event but the servicing of it and your customer care experience can last for years. Go with Coast. More
I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with Coast Honda. The most recent occasion was due to a dead battery. After calling the dealership, Pat M. came to me at my daughter's school, where he proceed Honda. The most recent occasion was due to a dead battery. After calling the dealership, Pat M. came to me at my daughter's school, where he proceeded to hook some sort of machine up to my battery and jump start my car. I followed him to the dealership where they already knew I was coming in to get a new battery. I pulled my car in, took all three of my kids out and went into the play area. I had Pat and a very nice service guy check on me and update me with my car's status. Before I knew it, I had my bill in hand and it was much less than I thought it would be. Overall, it took about an hour from breaking down to walking out of the dealership with a new battery! I never would expect this kind of wonderful treatment from a car dealership, but it is because of this, I continue to have my car serviced at the dealership that I purchased it from! More
went to have my car washed and was told that the detail center was closed at 4:15 their website advertises open till 5:30. while i was being lied to other employees were seen laughing in the background. center was closed at 4:15 their website advertises open till 5:30. while i was being lied to other employees were seen laughing in the background. I suppose if i wanted my transmission repaired i would have been made a priority but a car wash is not very important to coast honda profit margins. the absolute worse place to do business. More
