Attentive but Not Pushy Sales I don't treat a vehicle as investment, I treat it as a necessity tool that loses value over time. Therefore my goal as a buyer is to find a good and reliable vehicle for the next ten years. My last practical car is a Honda Civic Hybrid from Leith Honda next door, it was practical because I used to commute a lot back then. Now I'm in the market again, but I no longer commute, so I'd rather find myself a luxury vehicle with tried-and-tested gas engine that can suite my new lifestyle, yet still fully versatile. There was no dealer negotiation when I bought the Civic in 2007, as I did my research and laid out my target price with a reason -- allowing fair dealer profit above true cost. This time around, I did my homework again on both the 2020 Acura RDX and my Civic's trade-in value. Ideally I wouldn't enter the dealership other than test driving the vehicle, but Juan White from Leith Acura provided patient and excellent service tending to my 2 test drives, answered all my questions, I decided to strike a quick deal. It's no surprise that all dealers play the game of bad-cop --> walk --> good-cop-being-reasonable type of drama. I played along, and was able to reach the true target price with the convenience of trade-in. Even though I'd rather not get a financing term, the incentive I've received is also fair for the dealer to make extra money from the financing arm. Paying off the minimal loan within a month is not much of an interest cost to me, but certainly a generous profit for the dealership. The rest of the purchase did reflect the quality of a luxury car dealership experience. Every detail was taken care of cordially. Juan handled the delivery and demo'ed lots of configuration settings. He also followed up on phone calls to ensure a satisfactory post-sale experience. That being said, there's always room to improve. I noticed that a couple of managers were not wearing face coverings when social distancing was difficult. I'd also like to see more frequent and diligent wipe-downs after customers enter and leave the building. Overall, a pretty consistent experience across Leith dealerships. I find it silly to suggest that any score less than 5 is considered "failure". That's not how the world works, nothing is black-and-white. All sales tactics are from the same school, just played out differently. Leith Acura is no exception. I hope the remaining years of this new RDX would prove worthwhile for its luxury price. I'll be interested to find out if the service department provides a matching level of attentiveness suggested by this brand name. More

The only reason I would recommend this dealership is due to the exceptional courtesy and respect I received from Juan White and the Finance Manager Travis Thornton. The first day I went to look at the vehicle, Juan met me with an outstanding attitude. He wasn't pushy at all, like we all know car salesman have a reputation of being. He was straightforward with me throughout the entire process. Travis was very informative during the paperwork portion of the deal. He made it a seamless and faster experience than you'd usually expect while buying a vehicle. With all that being said there was one huge issue I had with a particular person there, Gavin Davis. From the very first time we spoke, Gavin was extremely rude and demeaning. Every response he had was a snide comment. He clearly had the intent to belittle and antagonize me, every chance he saw fit. When I asked him about the price on the vehicle I was interested in, he couldn't introduce himself or talk to me at all. He literally went and picked up a sign they had, and brought it to the office I was sitting in. He then proceeded to read each line of the sign to me, as if I was incompetent of doing so myself. I have never felt so insulted in my life. This man has no business working with people. They may have new policies in place that he's tired of repeating to new customers but that in no way gave him the right to be so discourteous towards me from the start. If it weren't for the experience I had already had with Juan and the fact of how hard it has been for myself to find a vehicle with the particular features this one had (I'd been searching over a year), I would've walked out of that dealership the moment he had the audacity to bring that sign over. The worst part is, there were multiple opportunities for him to apologize or atleast stop with the impertinent attitude. The smirk he had through the entirety of our conversations, made it clear to me that he felt a sense of achievement to be so condescending. More
