WARNING WARNING WARNING – Do NOT trust this dealership with your vehicle please do not purchase Hyundai’s. They will put you through hell and back with a warranty. I brought my 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport (67k miles) to Lehigh Valley Hyundai for a documented oil consumption issue. My vehicle was kept for over a month, and the entire experience has been stressful and concerningand the issues are still not resolved. The engine failed early during testing and was confirmed to have internal damage. After repairs, I picked up my car and immediately noticed the engine was still very loud. I was initially told this was “normal,” then told to bring it back. Later, they claimed it was the manifold, kept my car again, and said it was replaced but when I got it back, the same noise continued. I was then told the manifold “failed,” which raises concerns about whether it was properly replaced the first time. In addition, new issues appeared that were not there before: airbag warning lights came on, exterior lights were not working properly, undercarriage plastic was damaged/burnt, and engine components/clips were not reinstalled correctly. When I picked up my car again, I didn’t even make it out of the parking lot before I heard another loud noise. I immediately reported it and was then told I suddenly needed calipers, rotors, and had no brake pads even though previously I was only told the brake pads were wearing and would need replacement soon. The vehicle had also been driven over 100 miles while in their care, which raises serious concerns given the known brake condition. From the start, the service advisor was rude, dismissive, and unwilling to help. I was told to handle towing myself and was given no help with a rental. I was denied a loaner, yet later management claimed they offered one which never happened. Communication was inconsistent and accountability was lacking. Until I spoke up then Alex changed his tone some. Every time one issue was addressed, another problem followed. I left with more concerns than I started with, and the original issues have still not been properly resolved. This experience caused significant stress, time loss, and financial strain. I would strongly urge others to think twice before bringing their vehicle here. There is so much more to this, but I will leave it just at this please run from these cars, SUVs, any of them go elsewhere.

Our Fixed Ops Director, Rich, did speak directly with the customer, and she confirmed that everything was fine. She also noted that Alex handled everything appropriately. Rich provided her with his direct line should any further issues arise, but he did not hear from her. Regarding the repair process, the customer’s engine was covered under an extended warranty. The claim was initially declined due to a spark plug repair that had been performed incorrectly at another Hyundai dealership. This caused a delay while approval was being worked through. Following the engine replacement, the vehicle required an intake, which can fail as a result of engine issues. We replaced the intake at no cost to the customer. Additionally, the customer later reported a noise concern. Upon inspection, we found the outer brake pad measured 5/32", while the inner pad was fully worn at 0/32". This uneven wear was the source of the noise she experienced. The customer is also on the do not rent list for enterprise due to damages and tickets on last Enterprise rental (not through us). When a customer is on their "do not rent" list, we do not give a loaner.

Terrirolon33 responded

I want to clarify several statements made in your response, as they do not accurately reflect my experience or the full timeline of events. At no point did I confirm that everything was fine. My vehicle was still in your possession at the time, and I had ongoing concerns throughout the repair process. When my vehicle was initially brought in for oil consumption concerns, my brake condition was not at a “0/32” level. I was told they were in the yellow range and if I’m correct the backs were 5/32 would need service soon, but they were not fully worn at that time. If I’m correct, they were 7/32 and we had purchase brakes to be installed once I would get the car back from you guys . My vehicle then remained in your possession for over a month, during which it was driven and handled while awaiting repairs. When I received it back, I later experienced brake issues that had not been previously presented to me at that severity. The engine failure and replacement were not a minor or straightforward delay. The claim was initially declined, and I was informed it was related to prior spark plug work performed at a Hyundai dealership. Regardless of the internal cause, the result was a major engine failure requiring a full replacement and leaving me without a functioning vehicle for an extended period. After the engine replacement, the intake issue was addressed. However, this was part of the continued chain of repairs following the engine failure and not an unrelated or routine issue as implied. Regarding the rental situation, the only reason this information was known to the dealership was because I disclosed it approximately three weeks later after the fact. At the time service was being performed, there was no discussion or refusal of a loaner based on this issue. The matter referenced had already been resolved and paid, with no damage to the vehicle. My concern is not only the individual issues, but the accuracy of how the situation is being represented afterward. Several details in your response do not align with the actual sequence of events during my service experience. I will not go back and forth on responses that misrepresent or shift responsibility away from the actual service history. This is not the first time I have experienced inconsistencies in communication, and I hope moving forward there is a stronger commitment to transparency, accuracy, and professionalism. The documented service history and records from day one clearly reflect the timeline of what occurred.
