My husband and I have both purchased cars through Performance and I used this dealership for service on my 4 runner. I love this dealership for service. I have a 1997 used Avalon that they service very well. They do not pressure me to get anything performed that is not extremely necessary. This is especially beneficial Avalon that they service very well. They do not pressure me to get anything performed that is not extremely necessary. This is especially beneficial being a female as most people try to get over on you. I get the correct explanation, honest diagnosis and fair price. I will continue service here as long as my car runs. More
After moving to Kansas City from Atlanta, I had begun to think that it was impossible to buy a car here. The salesmen either thought their vehicles were too valuable or they did not seem to care if you boug think that it was impossible to buy a car here. The salesmen either thought their vehicles were too valuable or they did not seem to care if you bought anything. Today I went to Performance Toyota to look at a used truck and Mr. Portillo was exactly what I needed. I was unsure of the vehicle I needed and he allowed me to test drive two different vehicles to make up my mind. No other dealer in KC had allowed me to do this. Their price was right and we made the deal. I will definitely go there first for the next time I need to buy a vehicle. More
This is a top-notch team at Performance Toyota. From the moment I completed the online credit application to the evening I picked up my sparkling new 2010 Corolla, it was the best buying experience I've eve moment I completed the online credit application to the evening I picked up my sparkling new 2010 Corolla, it was the best buying experience I've ever had. Let me tell you why and what made this experience a truly life-changing event. I am a 44 year-old female and a first-time new car buyer. I was horrified by stories about high-pressure sales and taking a risk on purchasing a car with monthly payments that might let me down if it turned out to be a bad car. I chose to drive old cars that I’d by out-right. When my old van finally died, I decided to face this fear of mine. I’d heard so many positive things from my co-workers about Performance Toyota that I took the first step and completed the online credit application. I was promptly contacted by Chevis Reid, Salesman, who asked me all kinds of questions about what I liked in a car, what I didn't like and what I was looking for. I didn't know any of the answers! That wasn’t a problem for Chevis. He genuinely wanted to know more about me in an effort to put together a picture of what I might like. He took his time with me, listened to me and even reassured me that we will explore what’s out there for me. He didn’t force, he didn’t steer me in a particular direction....he listened, identified the anxiety in my voice and seemed to understand how I felt. I decided to meet with Chevis and give this process a try. My son and I were greeted warmly as soon as we stepped out of his car - like someone was expecting us. We were escorted to meet Chevis, who set down with us and started asking some more questions. He listened again! Jon Tucker, General Sales Manager for Performance, walked over and introduced himself to us. Similar to Chevis, he seemed to take a sincere interest in what I wanted. He was professional, warm and personable. Both were very knowledgable about a variety of vehicles and their details, as I discovered when they talked to my son (who understands all this car stuff). The staff at the dealership seemed happy to be there. My anxiety dwindled to nothing and I soon began having fun! But, I still worried about what would happen next. Chevis asked more questions about my preferences in automobiles, dislikes, lifestyle, budget, etc. He seemed to be drawing a picture in his mind as I described these things. Then, he showed me the first car. He gave me information I could easily understand about the vehicle and I clearly understood my options regarding price - and there were lots of options. Well, I fell in love with the very first car he showed me; he listened while I drove the car and watched my response to the car. I drove another model, which I liked, but not like the first one, which was a magnetic grey Corolla. We looked at others. I think he knew the Corolla had me. We sat down and talked and he listened more. Offers were made and I truly felt at ease. Mr. Tucker joined us to make sure all of our questions were answered. It was still fun. Something must be wrong! My son insisted I look at other makes of cars and at other dealerships. After all, this was the first car I’d seen and the first dealership I’d been to. And, this was my first new car purchase. I was in love with that magnetic grey Corolla, but I knew my son was looking out for me. So, I thanked everyone and went on my way to the next dealership that following Monday. So, I made my rounds to other dealerships and drove other makes of cars that Monday evening. I realized where all of the horror stories developed for people. My anxiety returned. For the most part, I did little talking at the other dealerships; they did all the talking, asked few questions and rattled off a bunch of what seemed to be rehearsed numbers, ratings, comparisons, etc. At this point, I felt defensive and was utterly disgusted. I felt disrespected because when I asked a question, it wasn’t answered and instead I was given more rehearsed information. I felt invisable. Why couldn’t they just talk to me? I ran full-speed ahead back to Performance Toyota to pick up my sparkling magnetic grey Corolla. Well, the service just kept getting better. I wasn’t punished for going other places, as I shared some of my experiences with Mr. Tucker and Chevis. They knew I was sold on their car and on their staff and knew I’d be back. Chevis even came in on his day off to deliver my car to me. He knew how important this was. He introduced me to the staff in the service department. He showed me easy ways to reference the manuals and made sure I was informed about everything important with this car and its warranty. He even explained the keys; he knew I’d never had new car keys with electronics in them! Matt Farrell, Finance Manager, sat down with me to make sure I understood the warranty options. I took so much of his time, but he never blinked. He was right there with me, reassuring me and was actually able to decrease my anxiety when we talked about numbers. I remember laughing most of the time. All of these people were so up-beat and positive. This is just not what I imagined. I was escorted by Chevis to my shinny new car, all warmed up and ready to go. Chevis remained there that evening, from start to finish. It was his day off. Royal treatment. That’s what it felt like. I have a huge smile as I write this. Chevis, Jon, Matt and the rest of the staff probably didn’t realize they helped me face this long-held fear of mine. No, that’s not true. They listened to me and delivered the car that’s perfect for me. They were there when I conquered that fear, step by step. They showed me how important my business is to them by learning about what I wanted, what I could afford and by treating me with respect. Now, that’s a bond that is hard to break. More
Bryan was very helpful in several ways. He held my car for a day until the representative from my insurance company made a determination as to whether or not the damaged transmission might be covered by m for a day until the representative from my insurance company made a determination as to whether or not the damaged transmission might be covered by my insurance. Bryan accurately explained the options and associated costs for the repair. He was able to locate a used transmission with only 2 miles on it which provided a good replacement at lower cost than new, but still with a good warranty. They replaced the transmission that day. As it turned out, I brought my car in the morning one day and took it back home the following day. It operates just fine - almost like a new car. This is my fourth Camry. I bought my first one from this dealer in 1985 and my fourth one in 2007. I will probably buy my next one here as well. I put about 250,000 miles on my first two Camrys before they are put to pasture. I had passed them on to my two daughters to drive. My third Camry (2002) was T-boned and totaled in 2007 - but I walked away without a scratch. I have put over 104,000 miles on my fourth Camry in 2.5 years and I am very happy with it. I plan to drive it for 2-3 more years before I hand it off to my granddaughter. More
