It could have been worse; it could have been deadly. On Feb 10, 2025 I had an oil change on my 2019 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Denali at Legacy GMC in Slidell, LA. On February 18, 2025, while in Carlsbad NM, On Feb 10, 2025 I had an oil change on my 2019 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Denali at Legacy GMC in Slidell, LA. On February 18, 2025, while in Carlsbad NM, I experienced an alarm in my vehicle stating, "Oil Pressure Low - Stop Engine". I immediately turned off the vehicle and opened the hood to find that the oil was literally pouring out from beneath the engine. I had my truck towed to a Carlsbad Chevrolet, a local dealer, to replace the oil and filter and to check for engine damage. The staff there agreed with me that the cause was an improperly installed filter (too tight) causing crushing and displacement of the filter seal which eventually fully slipped and released the oil under pressure. I contacted Legacy GMC in Slidell, LA and they refused to accept blame for the incident, instead they pointed the finger at Carlsbad Chevrolet for not informing me that the filter was the subject of two Service Manual updates (Document ID: 5951345, #22-NA-009 and Document 5663685, #20-NA-213). Their claim is that I should have been notified by the Carlsbad Chevrolet service department and that Carlsbad’s charge of $319.68 should have been handled as a claim against GM, not as a charge to me. Legacy GMC has agreed to submit a claim for me which would result in GM Rewards points credited to my account in the amount of $319.68. After I contacted the District Manager, they (Legacy GMC) upped the number of points credited to my account to 40,000, or $400 which would cover the cost of the original oil change plus the emergency repair at Carlsbad. I was informed that the points would be added to my account in 7-10 days. It has been nearly 3 weeks since the promise was made but no points have appeared. To add insult to injury, Legacy GMC in Slidell, during the oil change and tire rotation, they completely missed a large, and obvious, bulge in the sidewall of one of my tires. As I am pulling a fifth-wheel camper with my 2019 GMC 2500 HD truck, a tire failure at highway speed could have been catastrophic and potentially deadly. If you are considering using Legacy GMC in Slidell, LA, I would encourage you to look elsewhere. Mitch and his crew did not pay attention to detail and denied any responsibility for the mistakes and the quality of their service. More

How do you sell a vehicle 2020 Sierra 3500HD Denali Duramax DRW that you can't service? We are currently looking to purchase a new 2024 1 Ton truck to pull our 5th wheel but this dealership won't get another penny of our $! More
I must commend Mr. Mitch, service manager. I was sorry to see that he was promoted to service manager but the administration at Legacy couldn’t have found a better man Mitch, service manager. It has always been a pleasure dealing with Mr. Mitch when he was a service writer and now that he’s the service manager I feel more comfortable than ever having Legacy service my vehicles. With him as manager I’m absolutely confident my service will be done right and ready as promised. When I do come to the dealership I make a point to tell him hello and he always greets my by my first name with a smile and handshake. It’s great to be part of the Legacy family.
