This dealership is shady. Don't fall for the ad that they will buy your used car!! We were lured in by an ad that said they would purchase our used car and as the ad said, we didn't have to buy a car th they will buy your used car!! We were lured in by an ad that said they would purchase our used car and as the ad said, we didn't have to buy a car through them and with the title we'd possibly receive a check that day (the same day check wasn't promised, but the outright sale was). So we took our 98 Explorer in. John introduced himself and I clearly stated our intention--we wanted to sell the car outright and thus, get an appraisal. He excitedly said he could help us. He explained it would take an hour or so to get bids. He explained the process: our car was too old for them to sale so smaller dealerships put in bids to buy our car. Fair enough. While we were waiting John asked what we were looking to buy and we told him we are looking at Escapes--2001-2005. Prior to this question, we were very clear that we were here to sale. We reminded him and he yes, he'd just like to see if he could find something for us while we wait--you never know, we might have something for you. We agreed to look thinking there's no harm in that. He asked how good our credit was and we told him how we had just financed a car (mine, we were looking for my hubby) and we were paying cash--we do not want to finance because we don't want another payment. We are a young family and my husband is finishing pre-law--we still have a long road ahead with school. He showed us a $14,000 2010 Escape. I immediately stopped him to clarify our boundaries: we can do $4000 tops, we don't want a new car, debt nor payments. We told him that If our budget is too small we can go with a private sale; our desired car was within that range (even if we bought from a dealership with the fees. He said he'd quickly find a couple earlier models at affiliated dealerships and we could go see them. We reminded him to check on the appraisal as he seemed to forget our original purpose, more like disregarded. He checked the current bid and it was $1200, but it'll likely go higher given enough time. He pushed again to go see the others, but my husband had to go to work--again, we came for an appraisal, not to test drive vehicles. He must've thought we were coming up with an excuse to leave (we weren't) so exasperated, John said, "if we can get you $1500 for it can we PROCEED??" Note he didn't say $1500 for your trade. We foolishly set up another appt. with the understanding that the bids would be in as would older Escapes in our price range. Perhaps we are naive, but we trusted that we were on the same page and I maintain that John was made aware of our situation, despite claims to the contrary while I complained to the manager. We came back, a little later than the appt. but we called to see if we were still able to come, i.e., everything was on track. We waited for a quite a while and were finally helped by another salesman, whose name I don't know because he failed to introduce himself. We asked about the bid and he was clueless, so he asked John about it. He returned and explained that he needed to start from scratch with the bids and all the Escapes John had found were sold in the last 24 hrs. We were again very direct about our intention to sell the Explorer first and again the word trade in wasn't used. While we waited for the bids we also waited for the salesman to track down an Escape. He returned with a $1200 bid and an Escape listed at $6995. My husband told him the same budget and the salesman replied that we could finance the rest: we'd be able to pay it off "real quick". We stood firm with our budget, but regardless, he readied a car to take us to the other Escape. I cut in that we want to get the Explorer squared away first and he said he explained it all to my husband and we're going to see the Escape now. "No, this is the most important thing and we will do that now," I told him. This is the moment the facade fell down. He said they can only do a trade-in for our car because it's over 10 yrs. old and the ad doesn't apply. He could raise the bid to $1500 if we buy a more expensive car!! I didn't think the bids were from them, weren't they from other dealers? If so, how could they manipulate it and promise certain amounts?? I felt I had been scammed. I reminded him about the ad and John knew all about the outright sale. He checked with John and after another 10 min. (how does it take that long?) he said John made it clear it was only trade-in and WE were mistaken and it was all a misunderstanding so do you want to see the $7,000 car? He was incredulous that we could actually think that they would buy our old car for that amount. We are young and haven't ever gone to a big dealer. We really didn't know. I thought the ad was honest and John had misled us entirely--it was all so shady. I spoke to Steve the sales manager about the deceit and he also acted as though we were crazy. He knew in an instant what the outright price would be, $300. He said it had NO value, at least not to them, except to part out. The miles were high and it was old. I was so frustrated and asked why didn't John tell us this? He said that his guys were doing everything they could to get us a car and there must have been a misunderstanding (implied on our part, of course). He will not give us $1200 and I can take $300 or do the trade. I told him that we aren't taking either and the salesman catapulted over our budget and didn't respect it. He said the classic, our sales guys have to feed their families and I was angry that he preferred his guys get a small commission on a paycheck than for us to be able to feed and care for our little ones--why is it ok to push customers into cars outside their budgets and cause us to struggle to make ends meet for 3 yrs.?? I suggested that they improve their ad and the whole process and he said he had no idea how he could make it better other than address it internally. He did unintentionally reveal that the guys weren't listening when he said that he knew we were looking for Escapes 2005 and newer. They should just give two numbers--outright and trade-in, how hard is that? The manager did listen, but really didn't care--he asked if I could get more on KSL why were we even willing to take $1200? I explained that after a couple days and a couple hours you tend to want to do what you planned to accomplish and we were willing to take a little less because we wouldn't have to list it and go through that all that entails. We'd be done and we decided that would be ok. Steve didn't seem to understand why I was talking to him and kept trying to figure out what I wanted--he didn't get that I didn't want anything other than an apology and find a solution so other customers are lured in and jerked around. I did tell him I was writing a review about our experience and he got really defensive saying I am welcome to slam the dealership if I want but...I interjected and assured him that my intention wasn't to threaten him in order to get my way or be vindictive. I told him to give him the heads up and motivate him to listen to not only my concerns, but to listen to his customers in general and I'd like to say the talk with the manager was positive. I did appreciate that he listened even though he said he couldn't think of how he could change the ad in order to reflect their actual practices. I got the feeling that he just wanted me to go away, like we weren't worth the time because we didn't have a trade-in he valued nor the deep pockets to purchase from him. As for the 'bidding' process, I think it's a farce: if other dealers were going to buy our car for $1200 why would he say it was worthless? Wouldn't he be getting that money from the other dealer and not assume any risk? He'd probably get a commission or fee from the service right? Who knows! Overall, a waste of time!! Read the fine print and if you too are a customer who saw the ad and want to sell your car, steer clear--they won't tell you the outright price up front and they'll just try to sell you a car way above your budget!! If you don't have a set or limited budget and you want the latest and greatest then this is the dealership for you!! Thanks for reading. More

Wendy your sale representative help me get a great price on oil changes, I ask her about a quote on tires and your price was equal to the lowest price that I had found. Windows look terrific. There is one little scratch in the tint on the rear drivers side door. Came in for our 60k service for our Ford 2010 Explorer. When picking it up the price was about double what I was expecting. We spoke with Keith and showed him the email I had received and they honored the amount I was told I would be. It is very unusual for corporations to actually take care of there customers but this location did (90th so 200 w Sandy). To my amazement we walked out paying what we were told! We were totally satisfied with the way it was handled. They did not hassle us nor did we case a scene. It was worked out before we even arrived to pick up the vehicle. I will for future services make sure we all have a general cost and what services are to be rendered. Thank you for great customer care. More
