First time Range Rover buyer! Great two person team of Charlie and Cheryl that really made the difference in the experience (the entire paperwork, numbers, and finance portion took entirely too long). In the showroom looking at Land Rovers for at least 20 minutes and NO ONE came over to offer to help or see if we were being helped. At least 6 people wearing dealer shirts were in the showroom while we minutes and NO ONE came over to offer to help or see if we were being helped. At least 6 people wearing dealer shirts were in the showroom while we were there, and only 1 appeared to be with a customer. It was pretty clear we were there to talk about car models as we were looking at the MSRP sticker, trying seat and dash settings, checking out how easy it was to open doors, and the like. The showroom was pretty empty, so you could hear us talking across the room. It wasn't just us -- a couple came in, checked out two cars, were never approached, and left. No signs on the doors saying appointments preferrer or to register at the sales desk. This is in contrast to a dealership for a different make which has no new cars (because of the pandemic), and 2 people came to check on us in the first 5 minutes. Will not be back to Land Rover of Bethesda and will not recommend. More
I first contacted the Jaguar Land Rover of Bethesda dealership on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 by telephone regarding a 2015 Honda CRV-EX in their inventory. I spoke with Mr. Afful, General Manager an dealership on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 by telephone regarding a 2015 Honda CRV-EX in their inventory. I spoke with Mr. Afful, General Manager and then visited the dealership in person shortly thereafter and met with Mr. Kevin Soltwedel, Sales Associate. Initially, all was good even though he did mention that a woman from Florida was interested in purchasing the same CRV, but since I was physically on-site, I got first dibs. We discussed the vehicle of interest, took a test drive and they evaluated my potential trade in, a 2007 Ford Escape. We agreed on purchase pricing for the CRV and then I completed an application for financing. After a “back and forth” with the Finance Manager Kenny (because by this time -90 minutes into the visit) Mr. Soltwedel went "ghost" on me) I was offered a loan approval contingent upon providing specific documentation which I did first by email to Mr. Soltwedel on the evening of September 15th so it could be available the next morning to expedite completing the transaction the next day. I was even given a printout of the pending deal with a Deal Number and Contract Date and other related details. The specific documentation requested to close this sale was: • A “Furlough Letter” from my pre-Covid-19 employer giving me a return-to-work date; • Proof of Income (Social Security Statement); • 4 Personal References; and • $1100.00 down payment (based on my not accepting their $100 “low ball” offer on my trade-in). Then everything fell apart. I called Mr. Soltwedel at the dealership early on September 16, 2021 several times to confirm receipt of my email and the call wouldn’t go through. I called other telephone numbers and could only leave a voicemail. Based on the conditional approval and believing I fulfilled their documentation request, I sold my Ford vehicle BEFORE I went to the dealership to complete the deal. Upon arrival at the dealership Michael, the Floor Manager was very nonchalant and then handed me off to Kenny the Finance Manager. At this point Kenny advised me that the bank rescinded the offer because the Furlough Letter was not sufficient, even though this is exactly what was requested and it included the exact language suggested the day before. Finally, Kenny admitted that he really didn’t know what a Furlough Letter would look like, but clearly that was unhelpful. I am now without a vehicle as the rug was pulled out from under me. I didn't want to play the race card here, but my Customer Experience was suspect, at best...js More
They really went out of there way to make me feel that my time was valuable and getting me taken care of was a priority.
