I’ve purchased cars from several dealerships in my life, and sadly I feel like Lake Country Toyata was merely average at best. I never really felt like my business was appreciated at any stage of the process. I was in contact with a salesperson by internet the week prior to my visit, yet I still had to wait around for a long time to get my car. The finance process was also a very uncomfortable experience. I’m used to working with a finance officer to take care of all my needs, but the salesperson at Lake Country was in charge. I don’t feel like my needs were completely met because of that. I ended up buying the car I drove 2.5 hours to get, but I left with a bad taste in my mouth. I didn’t get a good deal, and I still don’t feel pleased with my purchase. I will not blame the dealership for this, but I arrived at the dealership unprepared. At the very least, I should’ve looked up what my trade was worth. I didn’t, and my wallet is considerably lighter because of it. I shouldn’t have signed the poor deal, and I regret not walking away. That’s on me. I won’t be back. Addition: It has now been 4 weeks since my purchase, and my impression of the dealership and salesperson hasn't improved. The lack of communication during the sale was concerning, and the continued lack of communication is frustrating. I wasn't told when to expect my plates. Upon contacting my salesperson, he said the title clerk would call me and let me know the plates were mailed. It never happened. I told my salesperson that I wanted the new black Minnesota plates. He said that he set that up. When the plates arrived they weren't the ones I requested. When I asked him about it, he said his title clerk would look into it and get back to me. That hasn't happened, either. More
Lake County Toyota is a very reliable dealership for the Brainerd lakes area. A few items related to my experience: 1. They offer industry standard prices for vehicles with an occasional fantastic deal. 2 Brainerd lakes area. A few items related to my experience: 1. They offer industry standard prices for vehicles with an occasional fantastic deal. 2. The staff are friendly and only a few individuals give off that overly-aggressive salesman type. Generally though, the staff are friendly, approachable, and likeable. In comparison to the many dealerships I have been to, I would give Lake County Toyota a 8/10 on approach-ability. 3. They will be honest with trade-in value for your current vehicle. Generally though, if the option is available for you, sell your vehicle yourself on the open market before bringing yours in for trade at this particular dealership. They will be honest and tell you what they plan to do with your vehicle, which is very appreciated, but they will provide you with the absolute lowest amount they know customers will accept. For your own pocket, just sell it yourself. For vehicle trade-in, they are dead average for the industry or in metric, 5/10. 3a. Also note, due to the current state of the vehicle I was trading in, they were willing to forego background check/Carfax on the vehicle since it was in such bad service condition, they saw it unnecessary. Consider this as a potential bias while reading this review. 4. The dealers, like many dealers, will not readily accept any potentially untrustworthy forms of funds. They are most willing to accept checks (personal & cashiers), but have clearly, through interaction, have had negative experiences with wire transfers and will generally not readily accept it, and might attempt to bully/recommend in an unfriendly way (almost made me drop the sale), other methods of exchange. Generally, a very trustworthy dealership and I find that they put a serious amount of effort into their customer service. More
