Bad quote, bad service We bought our WRX here last year and were very happy with our saleslady. However, we just decided to put witer tires on it and called them to ask abou We bought our WRX here last year and were very happy with our saleslady. However, we just decided to put witer tires on it and called them to ask about it. We wanted them mounted on a seperate set of rims to make it easy to switch them out. They told us they didn't sell any cheap rims, but they do this all the time and we should buy the rims at discount tire and they will put the tires on the rims and on the car. He quoted us a price out the door and it was $40 cheaper per tire than Discount Tire so we agreed to buy the tires here. We brought them the rims and they told us it would take 90 minutes. That's a long time to do tires, but OK, we went and had dinner down the street. The service guy called us after an hour plus and told us it would be an additional $100 per tire if we want the tire pressure light in the car to work. We felt like that was a bait and switch, why didn't they quote this whith the tire price. Technically, if I say these shoes are $100 and I later tell you the laces needed for them to work correctly, I haven't ripped you off, I just haven't been complete in my answer. Technically, the tires will work without the TPS units, but to get the safety lights to work you need the TPS units. They said 90% of their customers drive with the warning light on, something not safe for my wife (plus, it probably isn't a very good idea to confess you facilitate 90% of your customers in defeating a Subaru safety feature!). They then said 80% of the rebuild units at discount tire don't work, although every one I've gotten there for $14 each has always worked, at which point he started interrogating me about my vehicle, what year, what make, etc... We asked them to put the rims back in the boxes and we would go to discount. The porter/tire guy drove the car around and he showed us everything was back in the car. The service guy and his manager who were both very rude to us walked away without saying a word to us as we left. We will not be back, which is a shame since we had all the service on our last WRX here and purchased and had every service item on our new WRX as well. More
First new car in 30+ years " oops" MY first new car in over 30+ years . Lance Dillon was patient and informative about the Forester's rattle in dash and moisture in brake light assembl MY first new car in over 30+ years . Lance Dillon was patient and informative about the Forester's rattle in dash and moisture in brake light assembly. I made these problems known to him but didn't expect to have these two problems addressed when I was just coming in for my 6000/6 month oil change and possibly having mud flaps purchased and installed. Lance Dillon put forth much effort to provide high quality service. I do have a challenge with the dent on my vehicle's passenger front door that was not there when I turned my vehicle over to be serviced. Remember, this is my first new car in over 30+ years and wow!, a Subaru at that. I treat it with tender care and inspect it daily, that is how I discovered the dent after arriving home from the dealership. Some where along the service process, I believe the damage occurred. I learned from this incident that it is best to inspect the vehicle before leaving the service department so that damage, or any other problem, can be addressed, This situation should not reflect negatively on the professionalism and over all quality of service provided. The mud flaps were installed and look great, and the oil change completed correctly and cleanly. Margaret and Lance, the two people that I engaged with, were friendly and professional as well as all the other employees I could observe from the waiting room. The real test of service will come in regards to honoring the warranty in relation to the brake light assembly which has a broken seal permitting moisture to build up in the unit. The other concern is the repair of the door ding that I reported to Lance Dillon by phone and reported above. The car was returned to me with two additional miles which I assume were understandably used for identifying the dash board rattles, as well as, one tire missing a valve stem cap, while the other three were loosely screwed on with tire pressure inaccurate, I came into the dealership with all caps secured with proper tire pressure as prescribed in the car's manual and placard on the driver's side door post. The tires are a sensitive issue with me since I found 45 lbs. of pressure, a cold reading, on the front passenger side of my new car after being assured that the car was prepped before delivery, and yet not one tire had proper inflation by wide margins. I am thankful that a blown or damaged tire did not occur during those very hot summer days. I may have expected to much, another lesson learned. I think that I have made an effort to be a loyal customer with the intent of being so through out the time I own the car leading up to my next vehicle purchase. My purchases of product and services thus far have demonstrated such. Now I ask that the dealership be the same by repairing the ding on the door, which I did not have coming into the dealership service area as indicated earlier, or some agreed upon compensation, as well as, replacing the brake light assembly of the new Forester I purchased six months ago. So I have mixed feelings up to this point. My hope is I can have a favorable, positive outcome that I can share in the very near future regarding " The Family Deal" I received at Lafontaine Subaru.
