After leaving my car at the service department all day, I was expecting to pick up my car in the late afternoon, however no one had called me from the service station to say it was ready. At 5:30 pm I called and a man in the body shop was helpful in tracking down the service representative, who then told me the car would not be ready until the next day. The service representative should have called me to tell me the car was not ready. The service department did a good job in removing the dents. More
On September 2, 2023, I purchased the used Mitsubish Outlander 2022 vehicle at Koons of Tysons with 17668 milage. During the payment process I was convinced to purchase the Premium Maintenance Plan (36 Outlander 2022 vehicle at Koons of Tysons with 17668 milage. During the payment process I was convinced to purchase the Premium Maintenance Plan (36 months/36,000 miles). Something I agreed to and did at the time. Since then, I have taken the vehicle to this dealer 4 times (11/09/23, 03/14/24/, 08/22/24 and 01/30/25) for regular service, following the dates recommended for the service department. At the last service that took place yesterday, January 30th, with 21984 milage, I felt that something was off. So, when I got home, I decided to open the car´s hood to do a visual inspection, and I soon found out that the coolant level is almost empty, way below the minimum limit and the top of fluid level it was also not leveled, even though they state that the service was performed, which is not true in the face of the evidence. Now, I´m questioning whether all the other services listed on the receipt were actually performed? I bought the plan because, after several insistences, I believed that I would have peace of mind regarding the health of my vehicle, as I believed that it would be well treated and in the event of any abnormality I would be notified. I trusted, but in fact I ended up being the victim of a fraud, compromising the safety of my vehicle and putting my life and the life of my family at risk. When my wife and I visited Koons GMC Tysons, Pepyno Katende was standoffish and rude to both of us. The next day, I returned to work with Daniel Gomez-Parada to finalize some numbers, but the financing Katende was standoffish and rude to both of us. Finance Manager Hamza Royer repeatedly lied throughout the process, promising follow-ups and approvals that never happened. On Thursday and Friday morning, I sent detailed information about my wife’s fully paid-off Toyota Corolla, including its VIN and mileage. Trading it in would have covered the negative equity, making the deal easy to approve, especially since I had pre-approvals from Langley Federal Credit Union for $48,546.37 and Navy Federal Credit Union for similar terms. Despite this, no one responded to my emails or texts. Still, I liked the truck at Koons and didn’t try to negotiate further because I wanted the deal done. After being released from military drill in Virginia Beach at 4:00 PM on Saturday 12/07/2024, I drove to Koons, knowing I’d have to drive back and report for drill at 6:00 AM the next morning. Although Lindsay Chevrolet had treated us respectfully, I chose Koons because their truck had the features I wanted. At financing, Hamza lied, claiming Ally’s extended warranty was the same as GM’s Platinum protection plan, which I had specifically requested. It wasn’t and he tried to say that GMC does their warranties through Ally. He also claimed Langley denied my loan, even though my pre-approval covered the $45,148.41 I was financing. I don’t know what Hamza did to make Langley’s terms suddenly “unworkable,” but it’s clear he pushed me toward Ally financing for the dealership’s benefit, knowing I planned to refinance later. Now, I’m unsure if I can get the same favorable terms on a refinance loan as I would have on a new one. Hamza also transferred my Subaru’s tags to the new truck instead of my wife’s Corolla tags, despite us repeatedly clarifying this. It felt intentional, as if it was because we didn’t purchase directly from him. I’ve never had a problem with dealerships making a profit—I’m in sales myself—but Koons GMC’s repeated dishonesty and lack of transparency were unacceptable. I 100% believe they won't send me the survey directly from Chevy/GM or they'll fudge my email because of how poorly they treated me and my wife throughout the entire sale. For now, I can’t recommend them to anyone which is a shame because we purchased from them because they had a truck and hoped that us living close-by and being able to refer our friends that are about to graduate from George Mason would lend us better treatment.
