I accompanied my daughter into Koon's Sterling Ford to purchase a new (2014) vehicle - it was the first time she had bought a car solely on her own. She had a pre-approval from USAA and all she had to to purchase a new (2014) vehicle - it was the first time she had bought a car solely on her own. She had a pre-approval from USAA and all she had to do was select her vehicle and the dealership input the information on the e-check form and submit. Too easy. The sales person we dealt with was Shane Sooner and he was very cordial, polite, and accomodating. He did everything he could to make the deal. However, once he had to engage his manager in the process, the deal fell through. His manager (I do not recall his name) repeatedly tried to get Sheena to ditch the USAA financing and use the Ford Credit financing. When she said she was happy with her interest rate and did not want to spend the time to do another credit application and wait while all of the paperwork was done (again), the manager then decided to play hardball. My daughter selected the car she wanted but since she was not willing to use the Ford financing, the manager decided that he needed her to pay an additional $850 to get the car she wanted. We were not willing to do that so we declined the deal and he walked away. I have purchased a number of vehicles over the years (4 Cadillacs, 1 Buick, and 3 Fords) and in almost every instance, I had pre-approvals and the deal was quick and easy. I told my daughter how easy this would be and especially since this was her first experience at buying one. It was not. Therefore, I would not allow her to buy the vehicle when the customer service was so bad and the manager was more interested in pressuring her to use in-house financing that making a sure deal. We left there, went to another dealership, and my daughter purchased the car she wanted, the same day! At least I felt redeemed when she saw that it was an easy process when you deal with the right sales person/manager. There is zero chance that I would ever again go to Sterling Ford or recommend anyone else. There are too many other options that dealing with bad service. More
I contacted at least 10 dealerships in Virginia once I had decided to purchase the Ford Focus. I went to 3 dealerships in person. I have NEVER had a BETTER experience buying a car than I did with Ricky had decided to purchase the Ford Focus. I went to 3 dealerships in person. I have NEVER had a BETTER experience buying a car than I did with Ricky Rivera and Koons Ford. I started my conversation with the salesman via chat on their website, it continued through email. All of the details of the purchase were done by email. I had the BEST customer service I could ask for and was given the best price (by thousands of dollars) within a 200 mile radius of my home. I was told by other Ford dealers that there was no way I could buy the car for the price I was given and I would get to Sterling and they would add all kinds of charges. This was NOT the case. The price I was given over email was the EXACT price I paid. The customer service from the salesman was exemplary! In fact, I changed the date we were coming, the time of day, the trim package and the color of the car more than once and Ricky was extremely accommodating. The entire process only took about an hour. The salesman took the time after the purchase to help set up the Bluetooth, sync the phone and set up the radio. He was patient and very knowledgeable. He was able to answer all of my questions and believe me, I had many. My next car will be purchased from Koons Ford and I will work with Ricky Rivera. I will refer everyone I know to this dealership and to this salesman. Thank you Ricky Rivera and Koons Ford for making what I though was going to be a horrendous experience into a pleasure! More

Received a service coupon and was due for an oil change. Decided to take it back to this dealership. Figured, no way they can try to screw me again. A year ago, I came out of an oil change and ended up doing the "induction" (technician recommended) and apparently my rear suspension was leaking and had to be replaced. Koons Sterling cost to replace: $600. I declined. I went to a DIFFERENT dealership 5000 miles later, had them check the suspension and they saw NOTHING. They said if I had to replace it, the cost would be $271 with labor. Something fishy here. This is over half the cost! Anyways, the most recent service, was good, but they said I needed to do all this other stuff. I declined. This dealership won't trick me twice. Also, wanted to note that in the year since, I have not replaced the so-called leaking rear suspension and the same dealership didn't see it leaking this go around. Isn't that strange? I think so. I recommend that this dealership stops making false repairs to get more money. Stop charging twice as much as every other Ford dealership. My next letter should go to Ford HQ. More

Paul did an excellent job of listening to my particular needs and interests and recommended the model and options that were the best fit. Before I drove away in my new car, he took his time to ensure I understood and knew how to operate all the various functions within the new vehicle. Paul continually checked in on my level of satisfaction throughout the entire process and I would highly recommend this professional without any hesitations! From that moment on, we didn't just have a sales rep, but a point person and resource who looked out for us no matter what the question or issue was, both during and well after the sale. The sale was easy, no haggling, with a long test drive, and Mike found exactly the car we wanted at another dealership. He arranged to have it delivered and we picked it up the next day on a Sunday evening when the dealer was closing. Mike handled the last paperwork with us since our Finance rep had left. He then spent a good amount of time back in the car with us explaining features, and had me test the hands free parallel parking (very fun). He reiterated if we had questions about the car, to contact him. And I did. He'd quickly respond via email or phone. Once I called him but realized my question could be answered by the parts department, so hung up after a couple of rings. But he later saw our number on caller i.d. so called me anyway. And when some paperwork was inadvertently left at the dealer, he offered to drive it to us. Mike also stepped in when another department's email wasn't working and phone calls not returned promptly. His manager may have said it best - that Mike was a bulldog when it came to his customers. He just takes care of you. I half expect him to show up if we can't get our lawn mower started. In fact, I sent my local Ford dealers the link asking if they could beat it, and they didn't even reply. Worked with Ricky Rivera who was extremely professional, responsive and knowledgeable. Flew from NJ to DC and Ricky picked me up at the airport and took me to the dealership. The buying process took less than 1 hour. No BS, great experience. Highly recommend Kooms Sterling and especially Ricky Rivera. More
We saw an Explorer Sport on the Koons site that was way below any other price we had seen anywhere else so through their site we inquired about the vehicle. The following day we received a call from PAUL WALSH. When I inquired about the vehicle we saw online he said they couldn’t find it. I told him that according to their site it was in Baltimore. I told him that I was sending my husband up to have our truck appraised and we are going to do our credit app online to speed up the process and we would be in that evening. At 3:00 I received a call telling me that I shouldn’t come up that evening because he had to go and pick up a car from another dealer. I asked had they checked our credit and gotten a pre-approval based on the vehicle we discussed. He told me that the director of finance was out and they wouldn’t be working on it till the next day. I asked are they not selling cars today? He told me it was not convenient for him and I was not understanding him that the director needed to work on our file. I told him that we would like to come up anyway and look at what they had on the lot. He told me again I wasn’t understanding him we shouldn’t come up that evening. We pushed the issue and he said he would have Chad assist us but he would NOT be discussing numbers with us. Chad was wonderful; he explained all the differences between the cars. The next morning I call to find out that Paul is off, I asked to speak to the director who we have been waiting to review our file. It was now after 12:00 pm, he got on the phone to tell me that he had many files on his desk and wasn’t sure when he would get to us. I explained that it has been over 24 hours and nothing has been done to assist us and I was upset. He said he would try to get to it in a few hours. I received a call from Paul a few minutes later, where he was very rude telling me that I had to be patient. I told him we are coming in this evening please have our file reviewed so that we can move forward with a purchase that evening. At 4:00 my husband stopped in to see if they had made any progress because I would be arriving in the next hour. Paul grabbed the file and told him you can’t get that car you can only get $22,000 of financing. My husband walked out. I had explained to Paul in our first conversation that I had purchased 2 cars from Tedd Britt in the last 6 months and the only reason I went to Koons was because of their advertisement. Needless to say we went back to Tedd Britt we purchased a 2013 Ford Explorer XLT for over $40,000. They lost the sale because of their rude employee I will never go to another Koons Dealership and I will be sure to tell everyone I know how poorly we were treated. I am disgusted at the treatment we received from their dealership and the way their salesman talked to me as though I was a child. I have bought and sold over 50 cars in my life time this was not my first time walking into a dealership. They should be appalled at their customer service or lack there of... More
Koons Sterling Ford was great! I found the truck that I wanted and I am very happy with the deal I got. Ricky (sales rep) was honest, friendly, and very helpful throughout the entire process.
