After looking for a few months I found the "perfect" truck at this dealership. Perfect because our daughter lives right around the corner so we could drive down for a visit and pick it up, price and mil truck at this dealership. Perfect because our daughter lives right around the corner so we could drive down for a visit and pick it up, price and mileage were right as well, we live in NY. Contacted the dealership, sales person contacted me back via text, I decided I wanted to buy the truck, asked about holding it, they said they would hold it with a $1000 deposit, I said fine, I would have my daughter bring over a check. I was told I needed to fill out a credit application, I explained I was getting my own financing, didn't matter, everyone needs to fill out a credit application. I explained I didn't want to because we were also refinancing our mortgage and didn't want to take the hit on my credit report. I was told it was just a procedure so I did and sent them the $1000. Within 2 hours there was 12 hits on my credit report, I called and they said they got me a great rate on financing, I told them I already had the financing arranged, he asked what rate and his was 4.7, I had 5.0, a difference of $5 a month which I don't care about, I would rather deal with my local credit union that has my other accounts. I had my CU wire the money to secure the truck and picked it up a week later, I asked about the sales tax, questioning how it was calculated, which I didn't think was correct. I also wanted to transfer my current plates/registration, I was told that wasn't possible, I assured Kevin it was, again was told since I wasn't trading my vehicle in it wasn't possible. They added $380 for the registration to the transaction, (actual cost here in NY is $120). He asked about the extended warranty, I told him that my friend was a Senior Master Tech locally and was going to look over the truck when we got home and I would decide then if I wanted to buy the warranty since it was through Ford and could buy anywhere. He quoted me a price of $2900, I told him no I was going to wait, Kevin left the room for a few minutes, came back and offered the warranty for $1600, I told him no again, kind of ticked off that they were willing to over charge me $1300. Anyway, we completed the deal and I left generally satisfied. Almost a month later I went to our local NYS DMV office to turn in the old plates from my truck and talking to the clerk asked about transferring the plates to my new truck, she said she could do it, I told her the dealership told me it wasn't possible, her reply was "bullcrap", she asked for the paperwork which I didn't bring, but I told her I could get. I returned shrtly after with everything from the sale and she said they charged you sales tax, I told her I know but assumed that they would send it in the state with the paperwork, she told me that no that's not how it works, plus I should have received a title, which I didn't, "you need to call them and get this straight". I called the dealership asking about the registration paperwork, I was told it was sent "last week", 2 1/2 weeks after the purchase, I told the young lady on the phone that NYS has no record of it, she told me that the Comptroller would have to call me back as she was fairly new and wasn't sure what to do. 3 hrs later I still had not gotten a call so I called back and was told that she was still busy, and was put on hold, after a few minutes she came back on and told me that they were going to reissue my temp tags since they are going to expire in a few days and they were going to "get the paperwork back from NYS and send it to me along with the sales tax and fees so I can register it myself". Kind of annoyed that now I have to deal with this and it will probably be 2-3 weeks until they get the stuff back to me. I don't know if I would or wouldn't recommend them as a good place to buy, I feel like things could have gone better, and buying out of state probably complicated things but I'm still a little ticked off about the credit application and hit on my report. I chose no only because I had to pick something. More
