Horrible customer service, immature salesman I initially dealt with Doug Espeland. We went out to look at the vehicle, and I found some things I was dissatisfied with (top of tailgate gouged, mi I initially dealt with Doug Espeland. We went out to look at the vehicle, and I found some things I was dissatisfied with (top of tailgate gouged, missing plastic parts, dried wax on parts of truck, front air dam was extremely scratched and gouged and 1/16" to 1/8" of sand under the drop-in bed liner). Doug said that the sand was "no big deal." I explained that my concern was that sand friction on painted surfaces damages the paint and can lead to rust. He dismissed my concern with the comment that they only pay their detailers $8 an hour and good help was hard to find. Upon opening the truck, I was struck with the smell of cigarette smoke. Doug took a whiff and told me he didn't smell anything and that he had an "extremely sensitive nose." I expressed my disagreement, and he told me he was right. The listing of the truck hadn't listed its options, so we went inside to talk about them. We never got that far because when Doug asked me what I thought about the truck, I told him. He appeared shocked that I would point out the things I was unhappy with, and he asked what it would take to get me to buy the vehicle. I stated that I would like the items I pointed out to be fixed. His response was that it was a used vehicle, and he asked what I expected. Doug checked with his boss and returned stating there were things they would and wouldn't fix. I pressed him for resolution of all items and also stated that I wanted a full tank of gas. Doug left again and, upon returning, stated that he would give me a full tank of gas only if I were to give him two five-star reviews. I responded that I wouldn't be blackmailed into giving him a positive review and that I would rather pay for the gas. At this point, Doug left to take another customer on a test drive, and I never saw him again. I then met with the sales manager, Pete Roth, and explained what had occurred. He said there was no way Doug would say that about the reviews. My son, who was next to me, verified it. Pete's explanation was that I must've misinterpreted Doug, and I was dismissed. My wife later asked Pete if he thought it was ethical to coerce positive reviews. He answered that it wasn't unethical to him. This spoke volumes to my wife and I about the type of business we were dealing with. Unfortunately, at this point, we were contractually bound by a downpayment, and we felt it best to proceed with the purchase rather than lose the money. Before you trust the "positive" reviews, consider what it took to obtain them. This dealership simply wanted a sale and did not care what it took to get 'er done. We feel that the tactics these sales people utilized were disgraceful, and it leaves us with a feeling if distrust. We will never purchase another vehicle from this dealership again and are letting our group of influence know about our experience as well. Buyer beware. More
