First Minivan...Great Experience! I was the person that swore I'd never drive a minivan. Not only did I just buy a 2015 Kia Sedona, I love it! We drove all the way from Camano Island to Kia of Puyallup because of the dealer reputation, incentives and massive selection, and it was worth the drive. Our sales person (Rich Purdy), was knowledgeable, friendly and worked his tail off to get us best deal possible. We would absolutely recommend Rich's services (and already have in fact) to others. The Nordstom of Car Dealerships! (Genuine Service) I am a single female law student with previous business ownership and sales experience; so, I'm vulnerable, because I know nothing about cars, yet I h I am a single female law student with previous business ownership and sales experience; so, I'm vulnerable, because I know nothing about cars, yet I have experience in negotiations, business, and sales. I loved my experience; I felt pampered, and protected (more on this later)! I would definitely purchase another car here, and I will use this dealership to service my car though I must drive 45 minutes, one way, to get to it. The people are that great! When I arrived at the dealership, I already had in mind a car I wanted to purchase, because I'd done some research online regarding the fair price of my trade-in and the price range of the Kia Rio. I thought I liked the size and the price point on the Rio, and they had the color that I wanted: black--although, I didn't like the interior beige/cream color accent. Don McAndrew greeted me at the dealership and familiarized himself with my needs and desires in a car through a comfortable conversational introduction. All of his questions were right on point: none of them were intrusive. Then he took me to the lot to look around. He let me look at a car two sizes up from the Rio (I didn't want something too big, because I must maneuver in tight parking garages all the time, and I'd damaged my old vehicle a few times). I thought it was too big, so we immediately stopped considering that car and looked at the Forte, which is one size up from the Rio. I somewhat liked this car, and knew that I didn't want to go smaller. Bingo! Don helped me to determine that I didn't want the car that I thought I did, because it was too small. He never said, "Oh, you don't want that car. It's too small." He simply let me browse the inventory and asked me questions about what I liked and didn't like. He let me sit in the cars, look at them, told me their features, etc. This is exactly the kind of sales experience I love. Who wants to buy something they don't really want? Don didn't know which car I wanted, he simply showed me a variety of cars, and educated me on their features, so I could determine on my own what I really wanted. Now, I had narrowed my selection to the Forte based on size, but I hadn't considered all the eligible cars on the lot, so Don asked whether I'd considered the Kia Soul--because it's one of their most popular cars--to which I immediately said, "I hate the way they look! They are so ugly! But, let's go look at it because I like the name." (I know: "What's in a name?" but I'm the open-minded and adventurous sort). I was also concerned that they were too big. DO NOT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER! The second I sat in the Kia Soul, I was hooked. It's not too big and not too small. It's just right! I love it! It's deceptively large inside, but it comes in a trim package. It's actually shorter than the Forte, which means it's easier to park, but because it has a square body, there's a ton of room in the passenger compartment! I guess I'd call the Soul a sports utility vehicle, which is exactly my speed. I couldn't even look at passenger cars after sitting in the Soul. I immediately started thinking about all the things I could do with it: skiing, hiking, fishing, hunting, road trips, camping, etc. Heck, if I put the seats down, I could even sleep in it. That, and I can play with the Soul in the city, too! I can park it anywhere, and with that sexy black finish it fits right in! The one I purchased has exactly the look I want: black with black interior. And, the Soul is tricked out! It has so many toys that contrary to my typical approach, I actually looked over the owner's manuals to get a feel for what I was working with. Further, the Soul has the features I desperately need--back up camera, anyone? I can't believe I was riding around in my simple old car for so long. Who knew how advanced cars had become in 13 years? The bottom line is that I never would have discovered the Soul without Don, because on the internet, I would have judged it by its cover, which at first, I hated. But after seeing the inside of this bad boy, I simply look at my Soul and I get excited to take it for a drive! Actually, I simply think about it, and I want to take it for a spin! I am head over heals; I love everything about it. I mean, the Soul anticipates my needs--favorite movie theaters with current movie times? What? Really? OMG! So, after the excitement of finding the one and making sure that I purchased the model in my price range and with the necessary features, it was time to work on the financing, which can be a distressing part of the purchasing process. Not so here! Ryan Mirante was helpful and efficient (and humorous) in explaining all the aspects of the loan I was taking on, and I know something about loans. Not once did he attempt to take advantage of me. I was freaking out that these guys weren't going to make any money on the deal! (They will, but their heart was extremely cooperative and generous. If I'm going to spend money, I want to choose how much and how long. I might even spend more money than they thought, because spending that money gets me the features that I really want. The people here are confident enough to focus on making me happy, knowing that they'll end up happy, too). We also worked out the details of my trade-in, and again here, I was pleasantly surprised. This team works with an open hand, rather than a closed fist. And, they go overboard to please! Don helped me to transfer a bunch of heavy stuff I had in my bigger old car, to the Soul, which fit it all with room to spare; gave me a quick and dirty run down of some of the Soul's features; and one of the tech expert sales guys, I think it was Scott Clyburn, came out and held my hand through the more complicated tech. Wow! These guys are in a class of their own. I didn't want to leave! Also, I practically wiped out the on-site auto shop. There are a number of necessities in there, and I found a jump starter kit to-die-for. I'd been looking for one, but didn't know that they even existed. I could go on, but suffice it to say: I'll return. More
