Replaced motor Our optima blew up in Chattanooga on the interstate. We had it towed there and arranged a replacement. The only dash light on when we left it was the engine light. I know this for a fact because we sat in it an hour and looked at it. A month later we go get it and two dash lights are on that weren’t on when we left the car. When asked about them they said they could fix them for $300 and if they didn’t the airbag will not work. I have zero use for dishonest people that try to rob you and that’s exactly what they are doing. More

First Impressions are everything! I took my vehicle to Chattanooga Service dept. for an airbag alert light on Saturday July 13, 2019. I purchased the vehicle at Carmax with extended wa I took my vehicle to Chattanooga Service dept. for an airbag alert light on Saturday July 13, 2019. I purchased the vehicle at Carmax with extended warranty thru them so I took it there first but service dept closed on Saturday. The light came in 6pm the night before and it was urgent I got it checked out because I was leaving on trip with daughter late that Saturday night early Sunday and would be driving vehicle round trip over 1600 miles. I walked up to the service desk and was immediately given an unaccommodating attitude for not having an appointment. I attempted to explain necessity and express the safety concern related to vehicle issue. In a nutshell, I was told I could leave the vehicle and maybe they would get to scanning it by end of day but probably wouldn’t be able to get to it til Monday without appointment. I attempted to address safety concern and informed attendant lady that my daughter would be in vehicle and worried airbag could deploy while driving and endanger her as well if I am injured. At that tone the lady attendant informed me it actually wouldn’t deploy while driving then went on, if to relieve my mind , to explain that in the event of an accident ,major or minor, they would not deploy at all. This did nothing to ease my anxiety in the least. I again asked if there was any way they could at least scan it to see if it was a sensor issue or something serious before I took off to Dallas. She said without an appointment she couldn’t do that I left very upset and went back to Carmax to at least talk to someone to see what to do since car was under warranty. I was under impression Carmax or Kia could work on car. The Business dept. pulled up my records and told me because I had Max Care with them I could get rental car thru Enterprise . She printed me up documents and I proceeded to rent car and planned on making appt to have it looked at by them. When I called Carmax service Monday, was told I had 37,000 miles so under Kia warranty and needed to take it to them. So I called Kia and was told by service dept didn’t need appt- to just bring it in and leave it. I explained that my father would bring it so wanted appt. he said they didn’t make appt which conflicts with what lady told me Saturday. My father was able to take it in We’d July 17, 2019 and Kia ended up working on several recalls and did not get to run scan until Thursday July 18th. I picked up vehicle that afternoon with docs showing what they worked on at no charge. In the meantime, I now am stuck with a $205 car rental bill that I never would have done had I been accommodated in the first place by Kia. I was under impression this cost was covered . How do I go about being reimbursed for this cost? I appreciate your time and consideration looking into this matter. D Kopanke- Wallin More
