Being a young black man that just wants to do right for his family. I can not believe how Kia Autosports of Columbus, Georgia treated me. I visited the dealership to see about getting a buy number for a ve his family. I can not believe how Kia Autosports of Columbus, Georgia treated me. I visited the dealership to see about getting a buy number for a vehicle my wife and I were looking to get rid of. We were interested in getting a newer Van in the future for our growing family. I was greeted by a salesman who was very kind initially. Gave him the keys to my vehicle to get an appraisal on it. My wife and I with our 1 year old son sat and waited patiently for the value. They then came back and said we saw that you came in a couple months ago looking to sell your car, so my manager is going to keep his offer the same. I said sir this is a different vehicle. He replied, " I don't know still the same offer." I said sir this is a different vehicle. He said he would get his manager to come talk to me. The manager came to me and asked why I wanted to talk to him. I told him that this is not the same vehicle as last time and wanted to make sure you were aware of that. He said "well offer stands. " I asked if they still do NADA (National Dealers Association) as their guide for appraisals. He said no we don't use them anymore. We use "J.D. Powers". I said aren't they the same thing? No sir not they are not he replied. I said ok and then proceeded to leave the dealership ad the manager felt that as a black man with dreads I was not worth his time for a proper trade appraisal. Please anyone go to JD POWERS and then click value my trade and see where it pulls you. I was not going in there expecting gold but I was at least expecting to be treated fairly. More
