Deceptive and discriminating Recently tried to purchase 2016 SL400 from Mercedes dealership, Keyes European at 5400 Van Nuys Blvd., Van Nuys, CA. Advertised price was $75,200 on Recently tried to purchase 2016 SL400 from Mercedes dealership, Keyes European at 5400 Van Nuys Blvd., Van Nuys, CA. Advertised price was $75,200 on their website. After numerous emails, I called and spoke to Nick Chaar, internet salesman, about the vehicle and informed him that I was in Idaho and asked what their policy was for someone interested in buying the car but paying the sales tax and registering in Idaho. He informed me that at buying the car, we pay the sales tax for state we will be registering the car in and he would give me a 3 day temporary license for us to get back to Idaho to register. I spent the next day putting together financing and making travel arrangements to get to California. I then emailed Nick, asking for confirmation of our appointment to see the car, test drive, and then purchase. I received an email back informing me that he could not sell me the car as I was out of state. I phoned both him and his manager, where I was again informed that they do not sell to out of state customers. I purchased both of my previous Mercedes vehicles in Texas and licensed both in Idaho without any problems. If they do not sell to out of state customers, they should state it clearly on their website, and I should have been informed in my first phone call to Mr. Chaar -- long before I went to the trouble of making financial and travel arrangements. This is discriminatory, fraud, and deceptive and all potential customers of this dealership should be warned. More
