I had been shopping for a vehicle for my daughter all weekend. Lia Hyundai of Hartford was currently running an ad that I thought I would check out. I thought that I would check Key Hyundai in my own town before making a decision (even though Jill Merriam's radio ads are painful to listen to) and I was greeted by a salesman named Bob. Bob quietly offered me a seat and I began to explain what I was looking for. In contrast with my recent visits to other dealers, Bob Dimanno never opened his laptop nor did he lift a pencil to give me any figures, even after I told him that I'm familiar with the appearance of the vehicles and that I just wanted to crunch numbers. He then sat still and completely quiet. Wow! I asked 2 more questions, took notes, and said that I'd be shopping around. I felt degraded and demeaned by that visit - that I wasn't worth his time nor energy! And I determined that even though I had originally thought that I'd give my hometown dealer a chance, I would certainly not be buying from Key Hyundai. Upon returning home, I attempted to call the "sales manager" to voice my negative experience. After 4 calls, I finally reached a person and I asked to speak to the sales manager. He, Sal, said he was the manager. I gave him a full report of my disappointing visit. Later, as I looked a bit closer at the website, I learned that Sal is just a salesperson just like Bob and not a manager! Do they take us for fools? More
This is the second car I've purchased from Key Hyundai. Ed has been a great help during both visits. Sal worked out all the numbers, and Jon went over financing options with me. My wife and I came this dealership off of an add we heard on the radio, and at the time we were looking for another car because ours was rundown. We came in thinking here we go again, but we found the servic on the radio, and at the time we were looking for another car because ours was rundown. When we had come we did not expect to buy and we had figured the ad was just another dealer tactic but in this case it was a true one, and we couldn't be happier! My son was driving his 2012 Hyundai Veloster from our Home in NJ to college in Massachusetts this afternoon, when it broke down leaving him stranded in traffic on Rt. 84 in Vernon, CT. We had the car towed to Key Hyundai, I called ahead and spoke with Chris Then, the service manager, and he reassured us the as soon as the car and my son got to the dealership he would have someone look at the car and if necessary get him on his way in a loaner car. I would highly recommend this dealership, because of the professional staff that welcomed my son on a Saturday afternoon in a snow storm, and moved his disabled car from the tow truck to a service bay and brought him a loaner car inside the service area so that he could transfer his belongings inside, and quickly got him back on his trip to college. We did not purchase the car at Key Hyundai, and they treated my son as if he were a long time returning customer. More
I came to the dealership today looking to buy a used car, I went to other places to compare prices, and found these two salesman the most helpful. I ended up buying the car, right there! My husband and I have been planning our relocation to CT for the past few weeks. Having lived in major cities, we've never needed a car. Since we live in Chicago now, we planned our entire move via web an for the past few weeks. Having lived in major cities, we've never needed a car. Since we live in Chicago now, we planned our entire move via web and phone research. We spoke to several dealers who were able to discuss lease deals over the phone based on the applications we filled out on their websites. Key Hyundai was the only dealership to require an in-person appointment to discuss potential leasing deals with us. We were shopping around for a good deal before our move. We wouldn't have a car to get around in, and didn't want to rent a car for that purpose. Rather, whatever money we would have spent renting a car, we preferred to add to any down payment. All of the other dealers we communicated with understood this. The people at Key Hyundai either have bricks for brains, or they understood and lacked any willingness to accommodate. My initial conversation with an "internet specialist" (a/k/a receptionist), Melissa, leads me to believe it might be the former. If your only job is to insist on making an appointment, you're a receptionist. I prefer not to be misled into thinking I'm dealing with someone who can actually assist me. Additionally, if the first person you deal with has trouble putting together a cohesive sentence, there's very little hope for any successful transaction. I learned this the hard way. Here's what I was told in a nutshell during all of my communications with Key Hyundai: "We received your information and processed your personal information which included a credit check. You are eligible for several deals, but we can't tell you right now because it's illegal." Yeah. They kept spewing a poorly constructed legal argument about requiring an appointment because CT law requires verification of identity. Companies verify people's identites over the phone, all the time. I recently changed our cable plan with our CT cable provider and was certainly not required to show up in person so they could "see and verify" me. Ridiculous. Either they didn't have anything to offer, or they wanted me there in person with the intent of pushing me around to sign a pricey deal. If they actually believe what they told me, their lawyers need to go back to flipping burgers. My husband has a Harvard law degree, but it certainly doesn't take one to see through this BS. When he mentioned this to his colleagues, they summed it up in three words, "Stupid or shameless." It's clear that Key Hyundai is just fishing for mentally-challenged customers, or pushovers. Luckily, I was contacted by a very helpful and accommodating dealership, Wile Hyundai. Their way of handling business is straightforward and efficient. I'd rather walk the highways of CT in my Manolos than purchase or lease a car with Key Hyundai. It was made clear to me that they don't care for my business, and thus safe to assume not yours either. Our experience was wonderful at Key Hyundai. Due to a car accident we were forced to purchase a vehicle, our experience could not of been better especially due to the circumstances. We purchased the new Veloster from Joshua, his knowledge of the car was extremely helpful, he answered all our questions and concerns about driving in snowy conditions. Joshua also took extra time going over all the details in the manual and he even helped to set up our cell phones to the blue tooth. Sal and John were very pleasant to deal with on the financial end and they were able to get us a great interest rate, it was much appreciated. We are enjoying our new car.
