Complete Bait & Switch As another reviewer said, Shearer is a complete bait and switch. I am a loyal Honda fan and was hoping to find a VT dealership to make all of my purchases from. Being someone who works full-time and volunteers every night, I asked to do all of my negotiations over email. I loved the initial sales process and had a great feeling that I had found my lifelong dealership. I confirmed the final number breakdown prior to preparing to drive two hours on my day off. Then came the red flags (which I stupidly ignored). Red Flag #1, the finance guy never called me to go over the numbers prior to the appointment. Red Flag #2, the first thing we did was transfer insurance. Red Flag #3, we went over finance/warranty options before the payment breakdown. When we finally got to the numbers, the finance guy read the monthly payment off which was much higher than what I had confirmed over email. They called in the sales guy and he said he must have made a mistake and "missed" the final payment amount that we confirmed. They also "missed" the $500 that I had *prepaid* after confirming the monthly payment over email. After realizing that a majority of the dealerships calculate monthly payments on MSRP (regardless of sales price), I had put together a full spreadsheet to calculate number adjustments throughout the sales process. I explained this and the finance guy gave me some mansplaining xxxxxxxx about "speaking the language of math" and how my numbers must be wrong... all while plugging his balance into a website form field (which I'm guessing bypasses balance and plugs in MSRP). I should've had him do the calculations out by hand in front of me, but at that point I was so furious that they were lying after weeks of back-and-forth and driving for 2 hours on the only day I had free. I passed up on all of the outrageous insurance and service packages (which it sounds like from other reviews was a good thing), but ended up taking the car. I made a lot of mistakes and learned many lessons: (1) Make sure the finance guy calls you prior to your appointment; (2) Don't let them transfer insurance before the papers are signed; (3) Make sure you see the whole price breakdown prior to going over finance/warranty options; (4) Make sure you get the salesperson to formally sign off on whatever you worked out; (5) Do your own calculation of monthly payment [(Balance/# of Months)+((Balance/# of Months)*APR)]; (6) If they're xxxxx, don't do what I did - stand up and walk away. Since this only my second Honda dealership purchase, I wanted to shop around, but ultimately, I'll go back to Berlin City like the rest of my friends. PS I'll also be removing the Shearer logo from the car. More
No integrity in VIP plan. We bought our car and it was sold to us with a vip plan that includes free inspection for the life of the car. I was told by the service dept that the We bought our car and it was sold to us with a vip plan that includes free inspection for the life of the car. I was told by the service dept that they will no longer honor their word and commitment. They said the owner had not grandfathered anyone. Your dealer is only as good as your word and in this case it is in the paper work. IF YOU WILL SCREW CUSTOMERS FOR A $45.00 INSPECTION STICKER, THAN WHAT DOES THAT SAY ABOUT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEIR HONESTY AND INTEGRITY. I work for Ge in Rutland I will be sure to post this info on our communication boards and tell everyone about the raw deal the owner has decided to give customers who have already bought and paid for a service. I have already shared this message on face book and will continue until everyone knows , what type of dealer Shear Honda has become. Enjoy your $45.00 saving or as I like to call it Theft of services. I will try to get the word out for you. Then I well I decide rather to file a small claims law suit for breaking your contract. Sincerly, Shawn Graham More

I schedule my oil change for today which is Wednesday and when I showed up my bill was $172. I asked why was it so much when I called you you quoted me at 99.97 with the filters . That guy said no I quoted you for the 99.97 for the B12 service and for the filters was another 99.97. I was at a friend's house and my phone was on speaker phone when I was calling around for the quotes for the oil change. So I stopped by my friends house after work ask if I misunderstood what he said .she said no he said it would be 99.97.! This is not very good customer service. I feel that I should have got my service for what I got quoted at $99.97! I will not have you do any more work on my car but my free inspections! Very dissatisfied! More
