The full adventure I’ve had owning my Mazda started October 3rd when an early morning dental appointment caused me to be in the area and thought,”what the heck, might as well” and pulled in. I saw her then; on the truck, waiting for pre-inspection before being delivered to the dealer. She was and is my baby, a 2023 Mazda3 Hatchback, Premium Trim, in Jet Mica Black w/Red Interior, her black alloy wheels/tires still wrapped in plastic; a gift I hadn’t expected to find for another 4-6 months. Now chapter 2 began recently when I visited the Service Department at Kerry Mazda to have the maintenance done for my baby, now a full 13 months old! The visit began as expected, 126 point inspection and also on the agenda was checking a “low tire pressure” alert thrown for several days, attributed to some particularly cold mornings, especially since MyMazda Connect app detected the alert and notification was sent AFTER being parked overnight….So…The first surprise was learning the tire in question had a bulge in the sidewall, I know it wasn’t a result of any road hazard so I assumed the tire would be deemed defective and under warranty from Firestone. I also assumed that the Lifetime Powertrain extended warranty I had purchased there for that “bumper to bumper” coverage that was NOT a manufacturers defect, would kick in as well. WRONG! Even though Kerry MAZDA offers Platinum and Gold levels, I had selected that exclusive “Silver” level. Obviously, I questioned the charges and I can’t wait to hear how I could have misunderstood what my benefits actually are when the supporting document for their argument is a marked up, crossed out cost/benefit WORKSHEET titled Kerry NISSAN-Lifetime PowerTrain Levels- Bronze, Silver, Gold, & Platinum, and I chose “Silver”, the ONLY level WITHOUT the Wheel/Tire benefit. Thankfully, the hero of that chapter is Lauren, a service advisor who’s patience and kindness are most appreciated, her only faults were not being in charge and not having food to share at 8 am. She not only honored the spirit of Mazda in making this driver feel special, she also honored Kerry Mazda’s promise to provide Platinum Level service even though she didn’t have to, especially when Kerry Mazda wouldn’t. Let the adventure continue! More
